B2O iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona Team Discussion

I did a full fuel run and was 30 laps. Using Noel's second set but took the wing to 0 and diff to 30. Drives great at first, but then around lap 18, the car seems to start getting loose where you have to very cautious through turn 1 and the kink. Has anyone else had this issue? Although you would expect time gains from the lighter car, I didn't find that to be the case as I had to drive more cautiously.
I had issues similar to this in one race but not in the other. Maybe the temperature was different and suited the tires better, or I drove more carefully. I didn't have problems in the kink mostly, it was usually when going on the throttle, or braking into turn 1. We're definitely not going to gain more time from losing fuel than losing time from losing tires, no matter what we do to the tires.

Were you close to doing 31 laps, Deb? From the fuel numbers I have right now from Nejtun and myself we should be able to do 32 laps at full speed and still have 2.3 L left.

Here is a preliminary fuel schedule:

It seems we are looking at 25-26 stints.

Wow, yeah, it said I had .7 laps remaining when I came in. But that is still a significant difference. I was driving by myself so no draft whatsoever, not sure how you were testing. I did find the springset 3 better.

I'm going to be running the 19:45 and 21:45 EST IMSA races tonight.

Fwiw, I prefer 0 wing to -1 wing, but its not so unstable that I fear it the way I feared the McLaren last year. I'll be running both races tonight on -1 wing.

I think my data was collected when running by myself. Are you sure you did 30 laps and not 31 total, including the out-lap which iRacing doesn't show?

Are you going to try the Spring Set 3 setup I shared or are you still running your set?

I'll be doing a few IMSA races tonight, I'll try make myself available to talk through team arrangements (my sleep schedule is a mess anyway).

James won't be able to due to the time, but we're both available available to run any hours, we originally planed to 3 man this race so we're free for the whole 24hrs. Expect him to be slightly faster than me, low/mid 44s by race day for both of us is feasible.

Yeah, I've tried it before. I noticed very little difference, maybe a tad more stable and understeer. So I don't mind running this. I won't have a chance to post the updated set until tomorrow most likely. That would be wing 0, spring set 3.

So far I've tried the Wing at 0 and -1 and I think overall 0 is the way to go but will compare it over 2 fuel runs this week I hope.

I do know that my laptime seems to fall off less severely in Spring Set 3 than in Spring Set 1 because I'm not as afraid of the car killing me.

Duke, could you post here what comes out of that meeting tonight? Then I can make a schedule. If anybody has preferred times or times they can't drive and hasn't mentioned it yet, please announce it here.

I'm available pretty much all race, except from 16:00-21:00 GMT.

I ran the setup with spring set 3 with the rear arb up a click at 2 and found less understeer and very stable when re-entering the oval portion of the track. Might just be my driving style but give it a try. I also had to change the brake bias up to 50.2 for a clean entry into turn 1. I ran at 0 wing. Just thought I let you know...

i feel like i am a bit late to the party, but if still possible i would like to join a merc team.

i haven't driven in a while but i have loads of time i can use to get back to where i was.
so is it possible for me to join without being a total hindrance to the team? no hard feelings if all teams are already set ;)
Hey Sam, we have a lot of drivers at the moment, but also multiple teams. After tonight we should have more clarity about who is confirmed and who wants to go in which team.

Ya sure.

Personally I'd rather not drive beyond midnight if possible. At that time I've been up much of the day and am struggling to keep focus.

As usual I'll be streaming the entire event so I'll be around pretty much from beginning to end. I already have my sleeping bag setup next to my Computer lol.

Also, it's Nejt's Birthday on Saturday as well and he's only available for the firs 6 hours I think (correct me if I'm wrong Nejt) so he'll need to get his fair share in early.

I can be flexible, but would prefer not to drive after 11 central until 6 central, if that is possible. Also, would prefer to drive in 1 hour sets if possible. Not sure how often you guys normally switch drivers. Bedo and Tom should be on tonight for practice so they can tell you their preferences. Jay and James said to abuse them, they are use to 3 hour stints and they are in the UK, so they can probably pull US graveyard on one of the teams.

I'm available from 10 am to 5 pm est and possibly from midnight to 2 or 3 am est if needed. I could run two hour stints if needed.

Lastly we'll need to figure out who's on what Team because it looks as if we'll be running 2 cars with this amount of Drivers.

If you have a preference on who you drive with then now would be the best time to speak up.

I'm very familiar with James and also with Deb, Bedo and the rest of fusion, so unless we're needed on another team its probably smart to stick us on the "US Graveyard Shift"

Side note, I need to be added back to Fusion, I left on the day of Le Mans because I was worried about mixing up team sessions

I can race most time OTHER than between 1pm - 8pm GMT

I would prefer to NOT be on Duke's team.
Just kidding, I don't care who I drive with.

Hey Tom, nice avatar. I'd like to incorporate that into our setup. Easily worth couple of seconds of time gain.
