I might be there. Will see. Series I run are all on tracks I like, so I might be doing more official racing.

BMW might be strong this week given Mosport isn't exactly a smooth track.

The Ruf may be unbeatable this week though given that all important launch out of Moss.

According to Markus the alien, BMW will be the best. Maybe, in his hands, but otherwise, probably balanced all around. RUF can exit corners well, but wouldn't expect it to do too good, specially in Moss. I've heard from a fast Macca driver than downhill lefts will be an issue, and Frod, well...it does fine all around.

BMW was amazing at LRP, at least in the Sessions I was in.

I still think the Ruf may be the way to go simply because of how strong it is in a drag race and out of corners.

I've been passed by everything in the BMW but the Ruf is the only car that made it appear as if I was standing still.

...and this without draft on a no wing (Spa) setup.

It'll certainly be interesting though because Mosport is a tough track. One mistake means you can lose a lot of time (if you're lucky).

I ran an official race last night... qualified with a 1:16.9xx... felt pretty comfortable in the BMW there. Did pretty good but about 6 laps in, screwed up braking for turn 2 (Does that turn have a name? the downhill left hander?) and swung around and hit the inside... took 10 minutes in repairs. Ruined what would have been a pretty good race for me. That turn is real real tough. I brake a bit early, but I feel like if I wait for the crest to brake it's too late.

BoP-wise, the cars seem to be much better balanced now. So this would seem to indicate this is a strong track for the BMW. Pretty sad that on it's strong track they're pretty even.

Also new poster! I'll put up the session tonight so it is obvious there's a league session. 7pm eastern is the 1 hour practice session and quali race. The actual race will be at around 8pm eastern (immediately following the quali race)

It is a quali race, exactly as it sounds, similar to how the actual Blancpain series works. We'll grid a race based on standings (TBD, may be based on something else, may be reverse gridded, etc) and we'll do a short 15 minute race. The finishing positions determine the grid for the actual official race, which will be held directly after the quali race finishes.

So come Friday evening, the idea is this:

1 Hour session at 7pm EST
-45 minute practice
-15 minute qualify race (currently undetermined how this will grid)

Immediately following, I will put up another session:

1 Hour session at 8pm EST
-5 minute practice
-55 minute race (gridded based on qualify race results)

It's important to remember that fuel will be limited for the race so a Pit Stop will be required mid way as will a Tire Change (both are mandatory).

You can also only Pit within the Pit Window so unless damaged, pitting outside the window will constitute a drive through penalty.

The idea being that we're trying to be as authentic a Blancpain experience as iRacing allows for.

In accordance with Blancpain GT Series Sporting Regulations the Pit Window will run as follows:

A mandatory pit stop for changing drivers and all 4 tyres is to be carried out during each of the 2 races. The car must cross the pit entry line between the 25th and 35th minutes of the race.
...basically a 10 minute Pit Window without the Driver change of course.

There will be no Pit Stop required in the Qualify Race for obvious reasons.

As the fields grow and we attract more drivers this will certainly translate to more interesting Pit Stops. The race won't be limited to the track anymore which is the goal.

The only challenge we may experience is that each car burns fuel differently which has the potential to lengthen some stops while shortening others depending on car driven.

The only way around this is to dictate the volume of fuel that each driver must take during the Pit Stop.

All fuel burn rates, refill rates and tanks of the GT3s were balanced so the last part of what you said isn't an issue. The Ruf, which burns less fuel than all the others, also has a smaller tank and a slower refill rate.

If both a Ruf and the Macca (Largest tank I think) pit with 25% fuel left, they'll take the same amount of time to refill, even though the Ruf has less fuel to put in.

So every GT3 can run the same amount of time with a full tank (minus obvious driving differences, etc) and take the same amount of time to refill from empty to full tank.

So does this mean we need to set values for fuel refill or leave that up to the Drivers?

My point is that if the Macca has 25% in the tank when it Pits then it won't require as much fuel to finish the race. If it's refill rate is faster than the Ruf it gains an unfair advantage.

Am I just reading your post incorrectly or is there a potential issue?

I'm having trouble with your post because it seems to contradict itself:

All fuel burn rates, refill rates and tanks of the GT3s were balanced so the last part of what you said isn't an issue. The Ruf, which burns less fuel than all the others, also has a smaller tank and a slower refill rate.

Well for one, the drivers won't be able to determine anything pre-race. No one will have access to any fuel options pre-race, as that is messing with the setup. With fixed setup that is not allowed.

It isn't contradictory though it may sound that way. They were balanced, not made identical. And this is getting technical. With your first example, if both pit at 25%... the Macca would refill faster, but would require more fuel because it burns it faster. So it might need 8 gallons where the Ruf only needs 4.

And to answer your other thing where you quoted me... let's look at it percentage-wise with theoretical numbers (i don't know exacts). We know for a fact that 50% is the same across all cars. They all drive the same length of time on a full tank. So half a tank in the Macca is still half the driving time, and half a tank in the Ruf is half the driving time. EVEN THOUGH half a tank in the Macca might be 15 gallons and a half tank in the Ruf is 8 gallons. This is because the fuel burn rate was taken into account and thus, the Ruf's fuel tank reduced. Otherwise, if they both had 30 gallon tanks, the Ruf wouldn't need to pit as often.

Does that make sense?

Ya that makes a bit more sense, the way it was worded originally was just too damn confusing.

Even though it comes across that way sometimes, I'm not a moron though lol. I realize fixed setups means the original fuel load is set by us but the refill load is not.

So in my mind the question still remains, does the driver put in the amount of gas he/she thinks is required to complete the race or do we decide for them?

In V8's it certainly can translate to a huge difference in time saved/lost which I'm not interested in. I want everyone to be locked into the same experience with the difference being displayed only in the driving.

Pit Stops will always be a variable which I know but I'd like to lessen this variable as much as humanly possible.

Make sense?

Yes. That is a good question... I think even with fixed setup you can mess with how much you refuel and what tires you take, etc. Though you cannot mess with tire pressures or any other setup changes.

I really want to be there this Friday night, dammit!!!

I love my family but it's getting down to crunch time now and I want to get some of these issues resolved.

I'm also having doubts on whether or not I want to post about this League on iRacing Forums at this time.

I just don't think we're viable yet and as of last night at 13 cars we have a decent grid to start with. I think Twitch and YouTube will bring in more drivers so I'm not in a hurry to fill the field with bodies.

I'm much more concerned in having people filter in as they've been doing since we started streaming Practice Pals. It's yielded the most return drivers who all seem to share the same core values.

We simply won't get this if we allow strangers in that we have no history with.

I'm sure some of you can recall a time when you invited someone to do something important to you only to realize they're a bit of a nub. The problem with this scenario is that it's always left to a guy like me to remove this person from the group and I don't want to be in that position. I especially don't want anyone else to be there either.

Most everyone here has gained entry through Twitch, Practice Pals and/or knows someone who has. Most have remained here long after joining and continue not just in iRacing but other games as well.

...in essence they are the Community now.

At the end of the day the League is an extension of the Community so they must co-exist. The format we have now is slow but I believe it's a Quality over Quantity kinda slow so I want to keep it that way.

Lastly, some of you may remember a time when we were growing gang-busters in iRacing. There was a time where we had 18 drivers on track at once and all in Teamspeak.

This happened when I was streaming regularly and I'm sure will happen once again once I start streaming on a schedule (which I'm still working on).

Suffice to say I will post about League on the iRacing forums at some point but right now I don't feel is the best time.

I agree. If we can get at least ten in on a race, I'm not worried about the league. It will grow then.

Hopefully Friday will show how viable the current setup works. As I said before, I'll put up an official session tonight so it shows on our league page. Please everyone, try and be there! Share this poster!

I'll be there tonight and gladly add that graphic to my away/offline image and slideshow.

If you don't mind you should also create one for next weeks track as well so we can use that image come the weekend.
