B2O VFA-69 "Macaques" - DCS Blueflag

That is the correct definition of Fox 3 but I was just messing with you Kinger.
No worries! You might be surprised to learn this (ok maybe not), but I'm HORRIBLE at BVR engagements where the Fox 3 shines. And you are absolutely correct on the "pitbull". Have seen many a friendly aircraft fall victim to that when a wingman tries to help out in a BVR fight and doesn't realize the pitbull will lock on ANYTHING and doesn't check for ID's at the door.........

I died once crossing the FLOT in a BMS mission when a friendly AI F-15 fired a Fox-3 through the flight I was leading...my first indication of death was the screaming M appearing on my RWR behind me. Split S and chaff did not do the trick. He had locked up an Su-33 on the other side of my flight and the missiles flight path was right through us. Pitbulled just as it got to our 6. Was quite the laugh in the tacview debrief after the flight.

I had to look up "FLOT" as that's one I've never heard before. I can generally say that if a missile is out on me in DCS it's game over. Have I mentioned I die a lot?

I should also point out the RWR term as that's not one that was in either Brainling's or my list of terms. RWR - Radar Warning Receiver Lets you know of other units using radar and potentially if a missile using radar is inbound to you.

Training mission:

At 11:05:34, Dragonfire Flight, a 2 ship Hornet flight consisting of Dragonfire 1-1, Daunt and Dragonfire 1-2, Topper, departed Senaki-Kolkhi as a SEAD / BARCAP training mission.

At 11:08:04, Dragonfire Flight has formed up and is ready for ingress on target. Multiple SAM radars emitting.

At 11:09:47, fenced in and beginning run at 12,000 ft.

I have completed work on the current High Visability skin for the Macaques. Honestly though I'm not sure how it will translate to other planes as I don't plan to paint this on others. This is just a conversion from an existing skin and the work involved to get it onto other birds would not be something I'd like to spend many hours on.

I apologize for the awkward aspect ratios of the images- and the quality is not as nice as my other images. I simply took these before my campaign mission I flew last night, and thus, was in-mission and in VR. It renders only one lens I believe on the screen, which is what it takes the screenshot of.

From the last mission of the Hornet mini-campaign. Atlas 1, 2 ship of 2 hornets tasked with strike on attack helicopters that are parked on an airfield just inland. We are serving as self-escort, alongside Vanguard 1, 2 ship of hornets providing SEAD in the area, also self-escort. We will be trailing in behind a large tomahawk strike designed to take out known SAM locations in the area.

10:01:11: Carrier Launch and orbit for 5 minutes.

01Launch.png

10:02:21 - Tomahawk missile strike in progress.

02CruiserLaunches.png

10:03:42 - Orbit while last of the TLAM strike is initiated.
03CruiserLaunches2.png

10:05:56 - TLAMs inbound, beginning ingress. Already multiple Mig-29s inbound to intercept.

04StrikeInprogressIngress.png

10:07:30 - Ingress. Readying for intercept. Might be looking like we will have to abandon the mission, dump bombs and take out the MIGs.

05Ingress.png

10:09:20 - 2 Mig-29s still hot, 30-40 miles out. I'm determined to see if I can force them defensive long enough to dive back down and strike on intended target.

06Ingress2.png

10:14:46 - Fox 1! It's not looking good for the mission.

08Sparrow1.png

10:14:58 - Fox 1! Out of sparrows already.

09Sparrow2.png

10:15:32 - SA-6 has managed to launch on me. Going defensive.

*First question on the VFA-69 B2O Macaques Basic (seriously everyone knows this shit) Entry Exam*
How do you pronounce "Macaques"?
Me:

Nice job on the paints and logo @Daunt . It's actually a pretty fitting mascot for an online squadron considering "...the macaques are the most widespread primate genus..."

Thanks bud.

I've searched on it and seems it can be pronounced either ma-cock or ma-cack.

ma·caque
/məˈkäk,məˈkak/

If you just type macaque into google, it should bring up the dictionary result with a little icon to listen to it pronounced. That's the best pronunciation and I'm going with that. :)

If you go by David Attenborough and "propah" English it's "ma-cack"

Imagine the alternative...

"Hey has anyone seen ma-cocks? They are due to go up at 0800 hours"

Wait, i thought that was the whole point of the name, "cuz it sounds like Ma-cock" that's why i picked 69 as our VF(a) number lol
