I am currently situated at the International Airport , West of Devils Mountain .
Did a quick scout around :
Very high zombie count of various classes ; mixture of civilian , police and military .
A Helicopter crash site on one of the runways ( on the server i was on today ).
8 hangars .
A large control tower .
1 Deer stand in the northern forest outside of the airfield walls .
According to the map 2 warehouses .

Possibility of high grade loot : Very High .

Possibility of getting killed by bandits : Equally High .

I'll stay hidden until we can get a large enough raiding party .

Because this place NEEDS a good raiding .

Am at green mountain with an M24 that I can hit reliably with up to 800m and a pistol w/ a flashlight we can use for night looting, as well as a nasty cough, which is why my current destination is Berezino that has a hospital w/ Antibiotics and "Tent City" that has good high-grade ammo.

Maybe we could do this in a few days so I can get inland from the coast, me and my friends can provide excellent long-range security. Would be nice with a little cut of the loot, though.

Just met up with my buddy, we got to Berezino and found antibiotics. Traded the M24 for his M4A3 CCO. Should be able to get to the NW airfield at a 2 hours notice.

Did a full stealth raid of the international airfield with Mizi today , cleaned out the north west warehouses , the big tower building and all the hangars .
Went over to the south east corner of the airfield where the army loot spawns .
We got across the runway and were on the field between the houses and the runway when out of nowhere mizi got sniped by another ghillie suit wearing asshat (no Duke i did not shoot him in the back , it was a semi automatic rifle i heard).
Fortunately the asshat agro'd most of the surrounding zombies so he was easy enough to find .
Got him in my .50 sight when he just disappeared from my view ....
I suspect he logged off to prevent from getting his face chewed off by the zombies .

Lesson learned : Never Ever EVER think you are safe , paranoia is a healthy state of mind .

Currently chilling around Devil's Castle. Big castle, but it seems it has the same quantity of loot as every other castle. Raiding that airfield to west would be cool to do.

Mizi has been pretty unlucky the past few days eh DOA? First that tractor incident and now getting shot by men wearing strange suits. Got any good loot from that airfield btw?

Well the airfield was a nightmare.....lost 3 friends yesterday .
First Mizi had his head ventilated then a few hours later subgenius had a sniper round use his chest as a new home.
Later on ninja-noob got shot in the back while spotting for me.......
I'm getting the impression that hanging around me is deadly....

I'm also in the woods just off the road South of Devil's Castle. I have a nice hiding spot in there where I can dump my Assault Rifle and Axe my way back into the Castle.

I'm pretty new to melee in DayZ but I noticed that if you are standing or crouching the zombies can make you bleed. When laying prone, it's next to impossible for them to hurt you.

I also don't like crawling the whole way so instead I crouch/sneak behind them and then if they spot me, I dive to the ground and swing the Hatchet. This works with a few zombies at a time but I don't know how effective it would be against a horde?

Something tells me it wouldn't be wise.

If I get home early enough, I'm going to try attracting the attention of 5 or 6 zombies and then run up the stairs in the castle to the door and lay there with my Hatchet until they walk up on me. It should be a good enough choke point to kill them easily without taking much damage.

So, today I found out the hard way how dangerous the NW airfield is.

Logged out last night near the baracks at the NW airfield. Joined a quiet server this afternoon to check out the rest of the airfield. Made my way to the 6 hangars on the south side. Came accross the building at one of the entrances of the airfield, it contained a ghillie suit.. sweet! Checked the 6 hangars, found a 24 slot backback, then the firestation, axed down some zombies.. all good. I then checked the control tower, nothing much to find there except for an M-16 and went back down. Crawled my way out of the building into grass.. then BAM headshot... dead.

Now i'm on some island with a boathouse.

Ya that's the one thing that really sux about the Airfields, anyone with l00t camp there looking for better l00t.

The only way to even have a chance of being safe at the Airfield is to Recon the entire area around it preferably in teams of 2 or 3.

BTW, has anyone run across a Helicopter Crash Site yet?

The only way to even have a chance of being safe at the Airfield is to Recon the entire area around it preferably in teams of 2 or 3.

I've come across 2 crash sites up until now .
Some very nice loot to be had , only problem are the mass amounts of zombies , and if you are unlucky someone is camping the site .

About the NW Airfield though , we need to get organized and get a good squad going so we can safely raid the place .

Couple of snipers and spotters set up around the airfield preferably so that they can set up a good crossfire .

The raiders should have a 20 slot backpack (or the the larger one but that one is Very rare) and probably only a (silenced)pistol and a few mags or an axe for silent take downs .

Also a (small)back up group with enough blood packs , morphine , painkillers and food and water for any problems that might arise .....

The other thing is that we can find a good hiding spot in the surrounding woods and drop all but the essentials (bandages, morphine, blood) and go in with pretty much empty packs.

That will give us all a lot of carrying space regardless of pack worn.

I just want to say ..... Axes rule....and yes asshats that kill you...I am more scared of players than Z'ees (not Z'eds)... but yes...a cleansing.. so be it...

I was flirting with disaster from the very start tonight and it finally caught up with me.

I took some damage at Devil's Castle getting greedy as goods had just respawned. Made my way south following Deer Huts toward Grishino and eventually the North West Airport when a military zombie took me down to just over 1000 blood and a broken leg.

Subgenious had to come and bail me out (thanks sub) but he had to worry if I was infected which luckily I wasn't. I was passing out every couple of minutes though and if I tried to walk, crouch or crawl, it only made things worse.

So we hooked up, healthed up and set out for more Medical Supplies on the North East Coast at Berezino. Along the way we found a Helicopter crash site just south east of Dubrovka when disaster struck.

Sub was sniping the crash site and I was doing my best to keep the Zombie Horde off him which was not easy. We must have agro'd 20+ zombies total and finally got most of them clear so we could get the chopper.

While Sub was gathering supplies, I went prone apparently too close to one of the bent rotors. I broke 2 bones, went unconscious and died pretty much immediately.

Just a note to everyone, stay away from the heli rotors, they will kill you and bl00dy fast.

OK not 100% sure where I am right now? I think I'm at Prigorodky just slightly off the South Central Coast line and just out of Chernogorsk.

I still don't have food but I have an Axe and Shotgun, plenty of bandages and a Hand Grenade. Also, assuming I was in Chernorgorsk, there is a Construction Site there that is money.

I found engine parts, tires, and a windscreen. I'm not sure what else we need to revive a vehicle other than tools but there certainly is a lot there to put a vehicle together.

Anyway, I'm just hanging about because all I need are some matches or food and a water bottle would be nice as I only have one can of pop. If I can't find something soon, I'll likely make my way back up to Rog Castle tomorrow.

Berezino is much safer than Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk in my experience.

Hilariously enough I premptively threw down my gun as soon as I saw FNFAL pop on next to the chopper thinking it was the god weapon with NV scope. and proceeded to loot the crap out of the medical crate, got 5 morphine 5 bloodbags and other assorted supplies. And booked it out of there cause it was getting super dicey with the constant spawn of milZ, left Dukes fly infested carcass behind and headed back to the woods... Took inventory of what I got and saw that the gun i grabbed was not what I thought it was so i had to crawl back in to the chopper and grab my old DRM and then head back out.... I am now Sitting next to the chopper crash site in the woods SW of Dbrovka and havent gotten on since. I am wondering if the Site is static now that it is there. The server was Seattle 113 regular

note to all for the heli sites... use a smoke grenade to grab the attention of Z's instead of trying to pew pew them down... or squad of ax men, those sites are super scarey...

Also i did find the super backpack yesterday too... I will gget on the game in roughly about an hour to see if the heli site is still there with respawned loot on that server.

Well it's about bl00dy time you registered lol.

I won't be on until tomorrow afternoon and it's going to take me ages to get back up to where you are. I do like that Seattle Server though so I'll likely try and hop on there tomorrow morning a bit earlier and get as far as Rog.

I really could use some matches and a water bottle though. Anyone know of a good loot spot where the chances of finding that stuff is probable?
