Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

Is two-stopping tires possible?
It very well might be. I know of at least one BMW team that did it at the Spa BES race.

Apparently it's a night race so therefore the tires should last longer.

Then the question remains if you can fit a driver change in the window that it takes fuel to fill up. Otherwise it takes some careful planning to only have driver changes when replacing tires.

It's clear I'm a math idiot because I don't understand your post at all Noel :icon_redface:

Is this not a 24 hour event? If so, 5 Drivers aren't going to be able to do it at 1 hour and 12 minutes each.

Also, am I misreading your post Noel or is it 65 seconds with a Driver change or another 30 seconds on top of that?

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

Incidentally, do you guys want to run a 2 hour hosted practice session tonight?

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

2/3 of track is straight line, RUF will probably be fastest, Ford has been neutered for a while. It's sad they haven't included the only proper Proto.

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

Hehe, it's the way their "fair share" works. An equal share is the first part, 820 / 5. Then a fair share is 25% of that so multiplied by 0.25.

This is only the minimum driving time for each driver for us not to get disqualified. If we want to finish then ideally all of us will have to drive a little bit more than that :).

Yeah, that 65 seconds includes driver change because it happens during fuel / tires, just like in reality.

I'll try to stay awake for the practice.

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

So:

McLaren = Quick, but death

BMW = Slow, and might be death because it needs to be run with low wing

RUF = Quick, but it's the ruf and/or death

Ford = Average at everything, Ken thinks it looks ugly

Do I have this right?

I'm up for it.
I'll put one up in about an hour or so, about 8 PM EST.

In reality I'm pretty sure they are not permitted to Driver Swap or Tire Change during re-fueling in Enduro. I believe the Driver Swap only happens as tires are being changed.

lol, I have one correction to the above. I don't just think it looks ugly, it sounds like shit too.

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

BMW works fine after new build. They fixed the dampers, which helped. Even I have hard time spinning. I got the Macca, after 10 laps, I got the hang of it. RUF's tire wear may catch some off guard, but as long as you don't overdrive it, it's am awesome car. You'll blow by everyone on oval.

Is the 65seconds with new single tire changer?
For Kyle :D

Here it's all done separately (can't see fuelling)

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

So the Ruf is quicker on the straights than the McLaren? I thought it was the other way around. Also, won't the BMW get absolutely destroyed on the straights?

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

The McLaren got a little faster and the Ruf a little slower so I guess they will have around the same top speed now?

Most I noticed is 2km/h slower on Monza's front stretch. Haven't compared the two. Doesn't RUF corner better? Fuel mileage plays a big role too.

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

The RUF, the McLaren, and the Corvette DP are all made of paper mache, so if you're looking for a car solely based on survive-ability, then BMW and Ford, and if you want a car that is stable, then it's the Ford again. Also, not sure on the new build, but last season you could double stint tires with ease in the Ford.

That said, I don't care, but I'll definitely be down for a stint or two, or five, or.. whatever..

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

My team will most likely go with BMW as we're all familiar with it and can pull out more performance from it. In such long races, comfort trumps outright speed. Just with that, we had 32nd to 10th finish in Spa24.

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

Your hours work real well with mine actually, Noel. I'm pretty much the opposite, I'm available at race-start until around 6 eastern and then probably after midnight.

I vote either Macca or BMW.

Also nice video Slider.

To summarize:

Noel
Zac
Peeble
Duke
Daunt

Pretty solid if you ask me. I like that line up. Now to decide on a car.

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

How many are you planning on running? I'm waiting on reply from our guys, but apparently one of the moved away for work without telling us, so 3 guys will hardly pull a 24h race together :D I do have all GT3 cars now, so can run them all.

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

I can do pretty much any time, I can make middle-of-the-night stints if needed but I'm partial to day time US hours :)

Kyle, do you have the Ford?

Ran a few laps in the BMW and the McLaren, Macca actually felt better (though it might have been the setup I was using). It was also insanely quick.

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

Ford is the only gt3 I do not own. My final vote would be the Macca.

EDIT: Can we ensure everyone is on the correct endurance team? B2O appears to me to have 2 enduro teams (that I'm on): one for BMW and one for the Macca. Would it also make more sense to just have multiples: So enduro team 1, 2 and 3 that everyone is on all of them (and ranking be damned, as that skill will have nothing to do with it)

EDIT 2: I'm also on an "alternate" endurance team
