An interesting bit I found someone posted on the iRacing forums. This is the lap difference between the winners and 2nd place of last years Daytona 24 splits:

Split - Laps ahead of 2nd:
1 - 6
2 - 7
3 - 45
4 - 9
5 - 9
6 - 2
7 - 8
8 - 11
9 - 23
10 - 13
23 laps ahead? Wow, that is a lot. The fuel calculations I've done already account for this, it's looking at how many laps we can do with our assumed pace in 24 hours. The leaders might do more laps so they might also need more fuel in total.

At this time we're looking for Drivers to fill Dino Topics position.

Please feel free to add me where needed Kyle.

Thanks.

I'll adjust the schedule. We don't need another driver. I'll just fill it in, likely Gammack, Lindberg and Beatty Jr. will fill in the space just fine. Thanks.

Ok sheet has been updated. See OP or here: http://www.speakvisually.net/Schedule/index.htm

Really sorry Peeble about your 6 hour sitting. If it's an issue let me know. We can figure something out for the last two stints in which you're codriving both for Gammack.

It's still a pretty balanced schedule and aside from my obvious first stint and Noel's stint in the middle, everyone starts their sitting codriving first. Which I think is great so everyone has a chance to get caught up, spectate how the race is and get a chance to warm up.

Noel - While I'm thinking, can you make myself and possibly 1-2 others able to edit your spreadsheet. I'd like for someone to be able to edit it and mark when we pitted in each stint. That way everyone can keep track of where we're at during the race. my email if needbe is dauntlessk@gmail.com

So if you could add a column next to pit-in lap and differentiate the two, like "Planned Pit-In Lap" and "Actual Pit-In Lap" that would be perfect. Maybe also another column after those two that calculates the differential so we'd know we're +1 or -1 or whatever compared to where we need to be.

I'll most likely be home by 23:00 GMT so if need be I can take over Peeble's last stint in which he's co-driver for Marc.

Good idea Daunt, I will add those columns to a new version. It will be updated shortly. I'll need to set the calculations for that difference myself in the spreadsheet because everything is pre-computed and just visualized in a spreadsheet because that was the easiest solution.

I actually have an idea for a program that would use live iRacing data to dynamically update fuel calculations and which then uses the spotter's voice to say to the driver how much fuel he needs to save after every lap for example. But that's a lot of work for sometime later.

If anyone else would like edit access, let me know and I'll add you. I think on the spreadsheet there is an option to request access as well.

Dammit, just fixed the colours again and now I notice you can put formulas in a .csv and they'll actually get parsed in google docs. Will update again shortly.

Fuel calculations updated again.

People with edit rights can now enter the lap that somebody actually pitted in. The spreadsheet then calculates the difference to the estimated pit-in lap.

Also I've changed the average lap time to 1:45.8 because of fuel saving. I don't know if it's accurate but the only thing it affects at the moment is how many 33- and 34-lap stints we have to do.

For now just you and me but it would be useful if somebody else could enter the pit-in lap too.

Thanks for the luck Dino, I think we're gonna need it.

Right. Ken already let us know he doesn't know how numbers work so we can't count on him to do it.

Maybe Zac could assist as well as Peeble. I think that will cover all the bases. Can you both send a PM with your email (i think it has to be a gmail?) to Noel so he can add you to the edit list? Or if you don't think it will be an issue you can make it editable by everyone. I'd just make a backup if you do the latter.

Yes numbers are certainly a challenge for me. A few days ago I had to double check a calculation multiplied by 10 using a calculator lol :icon_redface:

What happens if we take damage and have to pit? I'm assuming we'd take tires and refuel at that point but I'd also assume that would reset the Driver clock and he'd just run a full fuel run from there no?

This could alter the schedule quite drastically if it were to happen twice at say the 30 - 40 minute mark for repairs of aero or other non-race threatening damage.

Yeah that's why this is a plan... on paper.

Most people are switching with their codriver (as in whomever is codriving will be driving next stint) so I'd imagine if you pit at 40 minutes, you'd just switch then.

It's going to be a "see how it happens when it happens" because we can't account for it. I'd say stick to the schedule as best you can without pitting just to change drivers. There should always be a driver and codriver on so some people might get pushed back a bit or whatever, and that's not a big deal. If it happens it happens and we'll adjust then.

Yeah, there is no reason not to fill up and take tires if we're in the pits by accident.

This could alter the schedule quite drastically if it were to happen twice at say the 30 - 40 minute mark for repairs of aero or other non-race threatening damage.
That's quite specific, were you planning something? :D

If you put half as much planning into assaulting a compound in squad you guys would be un-stoppable. p.s. the answer was 20 Duke. 10 x 2 = 20.

Good luck with the race!
