Does that mean we're not even able to participate in the same missions? Or just that I can't see his mission?
Isn't that the same thing?

Yes, as far as I know you cannot share in missions. You can Bounty Hunt together and probably fly together but sharing mission parameters is not something currently available afaik.

No. I meant seeing as in being able to see the contract or whatever. Vs. Being able to fly to the same spot in space and help take down whatever his target was.
I still don't really understand what you're asking?

You can see the same stuff however you cannot get paid to do the same stuff. You cannot help him in transporting commodities and while you can help him shoot ships down I don't believe both of you share the bounty.

And by bounty hunt, does this mean against other players? Or NPCs?
Both.

Strange. Sounds like a lot of the group play is not really implemented yet. I could see for potentially bigger harder missions it would be helpful to have more fighters but maybe not initially? I assume you can send someone money so we could both go to the mission, he gets paid and sends me half?

I don't believe you can transfer or share credits currently but someone who's played longer may know more.

To be honest I'm not sure why you would want to do that unless you're trying to help a n00bie out?

If you're talking about Commodities the payout would be so small it wouldn't be worth your time; at least not in the beginning.

As for Bounty Hunting it would be a welcome addition indeed for larger bounties/ships but I'm not sure I'd like to split everything. As an example, if I were to waste most my ammo and take damage doing most of the work shooting someone down I'd not want to share that bounty with someone who got one or two shots in and took little to no damage.

I just don't know how this mechanic would work given the various costs of even getting to the battle let alone the vastly different individual outcomes possible in said battle.

Goods for missions need to be delivered in one go, so if you can't hold all goods all at once, you can't do the mission (I think you can't even take the mission if you don't have the cargospace)

You can not transfer money. The only way to 'pay' someone for services at the moment is to drop goods in space for your buddy to scoop up again so he can sell it. Once the 'wings' update comes you'll be able to share bounties on destroyed vessles etc, but I'm not sure if a wing can share a mission.

The only missions you could do together at the moment is filling community goals. You could also do bountyhunting together and alternate on who gets the bounty, but I'm not a fighter so I don't know the exact conditions for getting the bounty (eg, be the first to shoot it, deliver the most damage, or be the one that finishes him off), you'll have to ask someone else for that :)

1. More than just knowing where your friends are, players in a wing will be able to share the bounty on any ship that they bring down together. To counteract this increase in firepower, the game will respond with tougher challenges. "In 1.2, players will start to see larger, more dangerous signal sources, where single ships would be at serious risk," Sammarco says. "Those signal sources will be perfect battlegrounds for coordinated squadrons, and they’ll find the rewards—in terms of bounties and cargo—will be suitably elevated in line with the challenge."

2. As for future support, Sammarco says that wings are now an integral part of development. "I can’t go into details on all our plans, of course, but Wings will open a number of doors for us. For instance, we could create even more dangerous encounters, both in normal space and in Super Cruise.
"We could add things like cargo depots which allow multiple wingmen to load and deliver cargo for the same mission, and offer new ways for ships in a wing to interact with one another, like having limpets to transfer fuel between the wing or allowing players to take formation around stellar bodies and perform advanced linked scans."

^ Couple of quotes that relate to a few questions raised here. Wings is just the start of the co-operative side being developed. They hoped to have this stuff in for launch but just ran out of time.

1.2 is in Beta this week I believe and will be released a week after. Looking forward to 1.2 it's jam packed with features a lot of people have been waiting for :)

Well just basic mission running mechanics, tougher missions = greater payout. Even in like eve online and LOTS of other MMOs, there are different levels of missions, some of which can be done solo, others are a LOT harder. And they pay based on this scale. Sure you can do the solo missions and make a decent amount... but the team-focused missions would worth even more than that, yet harder.

Like I said, basic mission running mechanics and I assumed this was already in ED. That is why I asked all of this. So basically any sort of flying with a buddy aside from bounty hunting and waving at eachother is useless at the moment. A bit disappointing, but I understand the game's not close to being finished. I'll just be patient for now. Thanks for the help now.

This sounds like they're intentionally not making this an option and I am not sure the reasoning behind this. Anyone know?

Not entirely sure but my educated guess would be that money transferring would open the door for money farmers (you know, go to my website and buy ingame money for real $$$) . After all there is an ingame economy, and I guess they don't want anything to screw it up.

That's a very good point Shilka and if it keeps that from happening then I'm all for keeping it out of the game.

I agree on principal, but damn, I'd love to sit at a nav beacon in anarchy space and feast on gold farmers running rares to earn money all day.

I feel like I'm missing a lot of the picture, but to keep something like that out of the game implies you're going to do everything possible to prohibit similar workarounds.

So based on that, I'm assuming user-driven markets / economies aren't going to happen. Else I could put up a sell order for something cheap and over-mark it by 5 million. You buy it and bam, I just gave you 5 million credits.

You could also workaround using the bounty system. That was what was broken in eve unfortunately and hopefully doesn't happen here.

The economy is user driven to a certain extent. You can notice if you keep doing tradruns between the same 2 spots profit will go down eventually . Then if the place doesn't get visited for a while the prices normalize again. (all depending on the demand etc of course). You can't set prices yourself, but supply/demand gets influenced by what you (and all others) haul, i.o.w in which extend you fullfill demand, or how much stock you buy. Of course in very busy areas your personal impact will be hard to notice, since so many cmdrs will influence trade at the same time, but for example the place where I'm at sees only like 7 cmdrs per 24 hours, and a single delivery of mine already influences price (especially if demand is only a few thousand). It's noticable.

edit: btw 5 million is nothing, I can drop you 208 tons of cargo at 24K a ton right now, so small amounts like that won't matter much.

No it was a simple example to use in terms of showing how you can give money away in other means. The market like it is sounds pretty cool. I love Eve's economy it was so complex and all but sometimes made things difficult. This is a good compromise.

I wish Wings was released, getting together in one instance takes way too much time now.
