I'll be seeing Interstellar tonight with a few of my close buds, very much looking forward to it!

Do you guys know if there's any Black Friday deals on picking this game up?

Not sure now Duke as you can only pre-order for the release on the 16th December. I'll keep an eye out on the forums and if I see any discounts I'll be sure to let you know.

Enjoy the film, I know we did. Absolutely epic watching it on 70mm with an Imax soundstage and screen. Best cinema experience I've ever had... (well apart from that one time years ago, but she made me promise not to tell anyone lol)

So after some evenings of travelling I've also arrived at Sol in my Freagle.
What a trip it was, I've lost my ship 2 times and I've completely lost count over how many times I almost lost my ship.

I could do it all with the standard hyperdrive on the eagle by making a "small" detour of a "few" systems
Now off to explore our own solar system, but by the looks of it there's a LOT to do here.

I've seen your friendsinvite, Lil P, now we're both in/around Sol, let's fly together someday soon !!!

Definitely mate, I'll check to see if you're online as and when I log on and if you are we can check out the solar system together Not sure how it works yet but I'm sure we'll figure it out. If Shilka is on too we could get some sweet screenshots I reckon

Due to the reading of this thread (and of course the coolness look of the game), I decided to get this as well. I'm not really into space games, but i'm sure i'll enjoy this one.

Unfortunately i've got to wait untill December 16 to play it.

I got the Full Edition (cause you know.. a box), but i'm uncertain if it also includes the stuff that you get with the Mercenary Edition. It doesn't mention anything about that.

Just so you know, you can't buy yourself early access anymore. You've got to wait untill the release on the 16th. You do however get access to the single player combat training demo to get familiar.

Hope I will be able to meet up pretty soon after the game releases, after all starting positions are randomized, and there are 400 billion star systems in the game now!

It is random, but I think it's still in some sort of "range" within the properly handcrafted solar systems. It would be completely silly if you'd spawn on the edge of the galaxy where there's most likely only anarchy systems around.

I've checked around a bit in Sol and it's stations, but for the moment I could not take any mission there since I'm missing reputation standings with the faction. But ok, I've gone straight to this system with only doing a few random bounties on the way.

Once the last wipe will be done on the 16th we will be able to see where everybody will spawn and make some plans to meet up in a specific system and work from there. It will be mainly forum and teamspeak communication between commanders since the game is still lacking a lot on the social features aspect.

I'm down to fly in a squadron commanders, would be very cool. After release when drive tethering etc. is implemented and proper voice comms it should be a brilliant experience to fly together :icon_cool:

I've spent a lot of time in this and it's not even released, can't wait for the 16th to get out there for real, and with a bunch of us it should be absolutely epic on teamspeak or in game comms come release.

What kind of roles would everyone like to take on?

I've been thinking about this and I can really see myself being a fighter escort for Shilka or whoever wants/needs it as he likes trading etc. and could do with some backup against those dirty pirates

My plan is to work up to a Cobra MKIII initially via Sidewinder and Eagle then kit it out with long range weaponry to keep the would be attackers at arms length from whomever I'm escorting. I'll keep a little bit of cargo space for trading when others are offline and scooping up whatever gets dropped by pirates etc.

That's what I'm thinking anyway

I think I'll be doing a little bit of everything in the end but with a strong focus on bounty hunting and safety-escort-trips for fellow "others" who'd like a safe trip trading their goods (all this for a small price ofcourse ;-) )

First thing I'll do on the 16th is to pick up my Eagle and kit it out a little bit to start with random bounty hunting

Sounds good Produx. I like that we can own multiple ships and park them at stations (and eventually planets I suppose!). So I won't be selling my Sidey or Freeagle. I imagine I will become quite attached to them and the adventures they take me on

If you're still deciding which version to get, it's pretty simple. They've added some extra info on the store page.
If you just want the digital game and no box, get the Mercenary Edition.
If you want the box as well, get the Mercenary Edition + upgrade.

I went for the Full Edition and apparantly i've got to wait for my copy to arrive to actually be able to play. If you order Mercenary Edition + upgrade, you'll get a key in advance. Not really thought out by them.

As a sidenote, I'm doing a blog post write up about a similar game to this. I don't think it would be a direct competition sort of thing, and you'll see major differences, but still the same sort of crowd.
