Fragtard Racing Team

Could you send me the Cadillac template .psd file (or make it available somewhere)? I'd like to try a normal texture on the bonnet instead of a flag, if that's ok? Then I can colour it to fit nicely with the rest of the paint.
Sorry Noel but this is the exact reason why I don't feel too good about sharing the template.

I want this to be a Team Skin and that won't work if everyone is "tweaking" it to stand out.

As Wappy said, there are ways we can make them look a bit more individual however I need the overall theme to remain untouched. There are many reasons for this but the main is that I have it setup so changes to individual liveries are easy (well as easy as they can be).

This is important because when I start pimping Practice Pals I'll be adding that type of advertisement to all liveries.

I've already close to 1 TB of saved ingame video and spent $30 licensing a really good music track to go with the promo video so it's imperative we have continuity.

As always though, if you guys think changes need to be considered I'm more than willing to implement them (where possible) but they would be sweeping changes affecting all current skins.

That being said, I know you like your guitar so I can probably find a place to implement it, possibly on the rear bumper or somewhere else. In fact, maybe we should all think of Avatars we like and I can find a place to add them to the current skins.

...and Wappy I already have your options on standby lol.

Oh, I understand completely that you want to keep them the same as much as possible. I was just talking about editing the bonnet, to see what works as a flag.

I was testing out something like above as a "flag" but as I don't have the Fragtard skin I can't really figure out what colour fits nicely with the rest.
I messed around a bit to get something like this:
car_141372.jpg
But I don't know if it matches the colour of the Fragtard template.
Would be cool to have my guitar on there somewhere though, if you do find a place for something like that, I'd like this one:

That picture for Wappie is brilliant :p. Too bad they won't let you put that on his windscreen :).

I really think the avatars are a good idea so I will add them to every car on at least the rear bumper.

I also have left the roof pretty much intact so it's possible I can add something up there as well.

Incidentally, I raced Global Challenge again last Sunday (disaster Sunday) and was actually complimented via ingame chat on the flag in particular. This is also a big reason for keeping it there as when someone you don't know actually says something about it kinda makes you feel it's where it needs to be.

I just hope Wappy's good with "the Hoff" as I can't put his bright pink dildo on the car no matter how much I may want to.

Good job on the video Duke, it was fun to watch back that race. Too bad it turned out the way it did for you ;)
Just one notation; while the first part of the race was easy to follow (cockpit view), from the moment you were disqualified the camera was only in tv mode. Perhaps (if not too much work) you can vary the camera's a little bit to make it more attractive to watch. Other than that, nice video. Seemed like you had some trouble with the Kia's as well ;)
Sorry Wappy, I forgot to comment on this until now.

This was by far the most difficult video to make and it took forever to put together, edit and render.

I had to make a bunch of sacrifices not only to speed up the process a bit but also because of how iRacing handles replays. Unfortunately, there is no way to grab cockpit view replays that show speed, gear or even update the steering wheel regularly. Relative data is also not available to grabbing cockpit footage from any other POV is completely useless.

The only way I see around this is to have you guys capture your races via cockpit view but those can be pretty large files that we'll have to transfer back and forth which opens up a whole new set of challenges.

This would have been a non issue had I finished the race however being disqualified left me with more than half a race with little to no filler footage to make it interesting. I was hoping the commentary would make up for that shortcoming but we were all rather subdued this time around so it wasn't as entertaining as I'd hoped it would be.

I don't see this being an issue down the road as I don't intend on getting disqualified that often (hopefully never again) but if it does happen, I'll just do a color commentary wrap up on what transpired with the Team from that point forward.

Oh and my problem with the KIA's was all me, they had little or nothing to do with it. I made bad decisions which luckily only ended my race.

Did you guys notice though that the guy who ultimately hit me and got me disqualified was the same guy who took me out in Turn 1?

This week the Skippy raced Brands Hatch and I was able to score my 2nd win ever in iRacing. From pole to first over the finish line in a very low sof - but still my nerves held and I didn't wreck the car

Nice that you got a win Wotan. On one hand you don't really get involved in the mayhem when you're on pole, but creating your own pace with no one in front is also not easy.

I've done a few laps yesterday around Mid-Ohio in the Caddy. Wow, what a beast. It might have front biased brakes and lots of traction control, but Mr. Ohio takes all that and stabs your tires with it. I thought it was a lot of fun in the Caddy (comparably scary to the Mustang), I don't know how it will turn out in a packed race though.

I've been turning laps at Mid-Ohio a bit as well and can't get through there all that quickly or cleanly. As you said, the track really has it's way with you and the only answer seems to be braking early and lots of trail braking to get through the corners.

The S onto the front straight is killing me and T1 is also costing me a lot of time. The Caddy just does not handle the curb as well as the looser Mustang suspension so you really have to nail it to get through there fast.

The other thing I noticed is the Caddy certainly drifts around this track much more than the Mustang which to be honest I'm a bit surprised by. My guess though is the Mustang would be the same or worse if it was a fixed series as Global Challenge now is.

I'm a bit on the fence as to whether or not I'll tackle Mid-Ohio this week as I still have to race Zolder in GT3 and Lime Rock Park in Ruf Cup.

I have driven the Caddy for 1.5 hours on Mid-Ohio and I don't like it - at all. I hate the limited view and awfully loud noise, only good thing about this car is the accelaration ;-)

Don't judge it on Mid-Ohio because I couldn't agree more with you about it around that track.

Load up a Test Session and drive it around Lime Rock Park, then make up your mind.

...it is an absolute dream at Lime Rock Park and I'm willing to bet it would be a blast at Phillip Island as well.

It looks like the Global Challenge is racing at Summit Point this week... does that mean we could potentially do a sort of team race this weekend? I guess there could even be 5 of us if we force Wotan to like the Cadillac :p. Although if there would be so many of us in one race there would be a 103% chance for one of us to crash horribly.

I'll be with you guys. Will try to turn a few laps before we get together, not sure about racing though. What about the skin, D00kie?

I'm out of subscription though, and I think I won't be renewing for a bit... Time for a bit of a change, and back to trucking. Also still need to work on watchdogs, and steam summersale is coming up soon too I guess :p

Sorry Wotan I've been busy with other stuff and completely forgot about this. I'll get the skins completed before this weekend.

The advantage we have over everyone else is we have ingame comms so yielding is a no-brainer for us. I think we shouldn't get too racy with one another as it works for a few laps but ultimately ends abruptly with vehicle resets required.

If a faster Fragtard driver is behind, you should communicate so and decide on a passing area safe for both drivers (and all drivers around of course).

We can do this and it would be very awesome to see that many cars ingame however my guess is that with us fielding 4 - 5 cars, it's quite likely we'll see the race split.

We may have to aim for an earlier race on Sunday (for example) that only has 4 or 5 cars on the grid.

...that's too bad NT but hopefully you miss it enough to pick it up soon.

Question for you guys.

This week has both Watkins Glen and the Road Warrior race (50 laps at LRP), so I was wondering if you are intending to do them both or to focus on one of them?

The reason I ask is that I probably don't have time to do 5 different races (2 layouts of Brands Hatch GT3, Mustang Road Atlanta, Road Warrior and Watkins Glen) :p. I intend to do the Road Warrior race regardless but if I can I would like to avoid wasting time practicing WG.

Don't take this as a "hurry up and decide what to do", I'm thinking of dropping Brands Hatch (blech, Indy layout) anyway for Watkins Glen.

Ya, forget Watkins Glen and focus on Lime Rock, makes much more sense to me personally.

I don't have time either for LRP, WG and BH so the less tracks to master, the better.

I couldn't find a setup for the Cadillac so I made my own:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xn7grtbj5rajhlt/LRP_custom_QUAL.sto

I might make some improvements during the week but I find it driving better than the base setup so far. Apart from the first few laps it should be pretty stable too.

I managed to do a 48.797 so far but I'm pretty sure I can improve quite a bit in sector 2. My optimum is around a 48.5.

There were also a few Kias in the practice which is nice.

I'll give your setup a try along my previous setup and see which suits me better.

I did like the one I had before because it was pretty stable overall and seemed quick but who knows, I may think it's sh1t3 now lol.
