GRAsim V8 Supercar league

I didn't really deserve Podium last night and if the faster guys were on I know I probably would have struggled to reach Top 10.

Fortunately there were people screwing up worse than I was.

I have to say though Zac, that was pretty awesome of you to let me by as your tires were going away.

Last nights Team Comms were some of the best we've had IMHO. The entire Team atmosphere in general last night made me feel like we were all in it together.

...more so than any other time I can remember.

Great podium Ken. You really took over the race halfway through. Sorry again about your fuel, Zac. I'm guessing you forgot to change from qualy fuel? You had a great first lap, that was actually very exciting. Stupid me flying past on the outside after my great start...

I can't complain about the race really. Despite being a shitty week it went better than I thought. Turned out to be just what I said it was... survive and then move on.

It's bizarre but for such a shitty track it actually ended up being a really good race, weird how that happens.

You're absolutely right though Kyle, it was a purely survival race last night.

I may actually try this over the next few races to just get on throttle earlier but lighter and get up to speed speed more gradually.

...but that bl00dy right turn up the hill to the bridge is a killer. I have no idea how to get through there without clenching my teeth. At one point I actually thought my teeth were going to start exploding from my mouth I was clenched so tightly.

I've been reflecting on this a bit since the race ended and I'm not sure I can take this combo one more time this week for SOF Thursday?

OP Updated. Next week's race and weather info, as well as new standings updates!:

Lindberg's podium completes a leapfrog of 2 teammates into 2nd overall in the Band of Others standings. Now the second third and fourth drivers are all separated by less than 40 points.

Top driver for Band of Others Racing Gammack continues to shine and solidify his top spot on the team with a gap of almost 200 points. He holds seventh place currently in the GRAsim league overall, while fellow teammate Lindberg in tenth.

lmao, I don't believe I said blew it up though, I think I referred to them as making it a trailer park :)

The good news is I finally contributed something positive to Band of Others Racing A so now Marc and I sit only 101 points behind the next club.

If you need someone to race with you feel free to ask. I don't mind running Mazda Cup but the chances are good we won't be in the same split.

For me it's just good practice to get used to H-Pattern shifting.

Don't forget that this league is very beginner friendly. While you'll need to buy the cars and tracks, it isn't restrictive on license ratings. The league welcomes new V8 drivers and the entire league rules and setup is to encourage those interested, regardless of experience.

I'll be doing fuel runs tonight. Monza setup seems to work well, at least the ratio.

What kind of lap times will pole do?

Was just on a server that had been up for 8 hours. I was experiencing some terrible terrible screen tearing / stuttering.

Time-wise, the fastest I saw were hitting 1:37, but most in the 1:38. Though I expect race times to be at least in the 1:40s.

Was trying to find a setup but no luck so far in what i've tried. Def up for some testing later tonight.

After finally getting a decent setup from Duke, I ran a decent 12 lap run, which gave me a pretty good idea of fuel requirements. It was telling me I'll need about 32.1. I'll do another fuel run with that starting fuel in mind and run again.

That means I'd probably start with 26 ish gallons and put in 8 gallons on pit stop.

To be sure we have enough I always start my fuel runs with full tank and do as many laps as possible at race pace, minimum 10 laps. Once that is done, I plan to put in 30L on pitstop and deduct the extra from starting fuel.

Could you share the setup?

I can post it when I get home, sure.

My best time I got was a pretty respectable 1:39.7xx. I will be happy to hit anywhere in the 40s during the race, but it might even be slower and I'll be ok with that. There's a fine line with all the chicanes.

More testing said anywhere between 32-33 gallons still so I'll be starting with about 26.5 and taking 8 gallons... should be more than enough.

Nice lap Kyle, the best I could manage so far is a '40 flat.

This track is deceptively tricky and massive gains/losses can happen at numerous points on track. I've been up well over .5 on any one lap just to lose it in the final hairpin or chicane.

Tough track this week for the V8's; never would'a thunk it.

What a disappointing race. I can't say, for me, anything went wrong except that I missed my braking point (and the ridiculous corner cut). I felt very confident all week and the setup Ken worked out was great.

In the end, I think our practicing has gotten away a bit from continuous runs and more about stringing a few good laps together. I know a good portion should be about perfecting your line and hotlapping but, me personally, I need to try and do a full fuel run at the least.

I still think in my opinion, our own hosted session with some practice and a race is a good idea for really being in "race mode." Where we are using race mentality, which just can't come out really in practice.

I agree that a hosted event on the weekend is key to us being more comfortable in this car. We just don't have anywhere near the seat time as most in that League and although it's not obvious in our individual lap times it's pretty apparent over 60 minutes.

I'm so upset about that race last night and my overall negative mood in general. I was in a heated battle for 5th and lost it out of T1, f3ck, F3ck, F3CKKKKK!

Honestly it was Dino's comment on battle of incompetence that lightened the mood for me, prior to that I wanted to put my fist through the monitor lol.

I may actually race this tomorrow night in the strength of field race just to see if I can keep it on track for an hour. Hopefully I learn from my mistake and flourish or it's the road to C-License

Agreed. We can hotlap just fine for the most part. A sustained run is lacking.

I dunno why though, I've had no interest in racing the regular series... I enjoy sticking to the league mostly, especially since I have less time.
