Why pair up best with best and slowest with slowest? Other league I participate have an IR cap in 4 man teams to keep from best getting all the awards. Also with slow and fast in same team, it would encourage teamwork and encourage slower drivers to get faster as to not drag the teams down.

Nobodies dragging anyone down. It simply makes no sense to put drivers together when 1 is unsure of their participation ratio.

As for Team A I'd like to see our strongest drivers try for position in the Top Teams board. We need at least 1 Team to place well otherwise it makes no sense to even do this.

I do not want 4 Teams at or near the bottom of the ladder, I need at least one to do well or have a good chance at it.

There is no indication of slowest being paired with slowest either. You, Daunt and myself swap times continually on who's faster/slower depending on a variety of factors.

This isn't even being considered, it's MPR based to be fair. You want to be on a higher Team then you need to be present more and we're all held to that standard including myself.

I was waiting to talk to David to make my decision and then I talked to David and then I acted based on what we had talked about. All we're really talking about here is which team is 'Team A', and which team Duke is on, right?:icon_rolleyes: My understanding so far looks like this:

Full Time:
Noël Luneburg
David Stratton
Marc Gammack

Part Time:
Dino Topic
Ken Lindberg

Apparently the confusion on my part is on Dukes participation. Between talking to everyone, I was understanding that your participation was 6-7 and Dino's was 8-9, and that's what I based my decision on.

FYI Zac, I said I'm going to commit to running another season. Hopefully around 8-9 races, after looking at the schedule. Probably will drop Oulton and COTA I know for sure.

I was never confused about what Team I was on because you haven't told me what Team I'm on, how is that confusing?

I based this Seasons participation off last seasons as it will be roughly the same. Last Season I participated in 8 weeks so my guess is I'll do roughly the same.

I'm not sure where all this confusion seems to be coming from because I fully understood what it is you were waiting for.

We even discussed at length what it is you were considering so...

I don't really mind which team I end up in. I do agree though that matching slow + fast is not a good way to go about it. Both drivers would be running on either side of the field so to speak which makes helping each other more difficult in my opinion. And for the reasons Duke said. Most other teams also use team1 or team A for the fastest drivers.

I have not driven these races before obviously but am I not correct in assuming that we're all on the same teamspeak and that we're essentially operating as one team with all the sub-teams, announcing crashes etc.?

Regarding the participation, I won't be available all 12 weeks, as I said. I'll be on holiday for 2 weeks and then there will be probably another week that I can't make it.

So with Kyle it means we have 3 teams of 2? Nice!

Teams A, B, C, etc are there just because of the 2 driver limit in the league. Otherwise we're all in same channel communicating as one big team as we'll inevitably be spread around the field. So guys ahead can warn us behind there's a car off, etc.

Having Team A as "best" team is just arbitrary. Just because others do it, doesn't mean we have to. Winner is a winner no matter the name.

Fair enough but just because you disagree is not a valid reason not to do it either.

A Team is always your best foot forward in any sport so we're going with it. Everything else is MPR based and is fair. There is absolutely no reason to structure it differently and the argument that "we don't have to do it because everyone else does" is no argument at all.

If I had my way there wouldn't be Teams at all beyond the actual Team but GRA views that as a winning by popularity so we're stuck with it.

It's about compromise, I have to do it in a manner that GRA chooses and because B2O is my brand we'll be structuring the teams in a manner I see fit.

If it was unfair then you'd have a valid point but it is not unfair, it's actually common sense really.

Lastly, I've not heard anything from Ryan C and I PM'd him quite a while ago about his participation. Has anyone heard from him and what his status is or are we simply removing him at this time?

I haven't seen Ryan anywhere in over a month.
Ya same here so since he's not been involved in these discussions, answered my PM or communicated with anyone on the Team I think we can safely consider him a scratch.

Okay, so the new team structure:

Band of Others Racing A-
Noël Luneburg
David Stratton

Band of Others Racing B-
Marc Gammack
Ken Lindberg

Band of Others C-
Kyle Breen-Bondie
Dino Topic

If there are any Questions/Concerns let me know, otherwise I'll repost this to GRASIM tomorrow night.

Sounds good to me.

I'd expect these Teams to change virtually every season based off Participation and addition/removal of Team Drivers.

  • The races are 8:30 EST (or is that the session start time, then 40 min practice and 20 min quali?) now.
  • Taking 4 tires is no longer required and thus pit stops are not mandatory. This is in line with Official Series, which will limit fuel loads on some races.
Just to reiterate to the changes in format this season, as someone (DUKE) didn't know the rules had changed. Still not sure if 830pm est is the session start time or the race start time.

Also for Zolder it appears that total fuel requirements will be 28-29 Gal (start at max 21 I think... 72%) So taking a full stop might be the strategy. OP updated with this week's race info.

EDIT: Duke pointed out below that running less than 80L is not smart.
------
For Zolder it might also be beneficial to start with around 60L (15.9 gal) and then take up to 60L again at the pit stop (+ tires). This will distribute the tire wear more evenly over the two stints.

However, assuming many on the grid take 80L (21.1 gal), you should do well in qualifying, otherwise you'll be held up by people with more fuel at the start, where you would want to try and create a lead on them.
------

Like the 1st post suggests, if you crash or pit before lap 10 you'll have to pit again because the fuel limit is still in effect during the pit stop, making it impossible to bring enough fuel to finish the race when pitting before lap ~10.

My strategy will probably be to take 80L and wait to pit until I'm out of fuel or being held up. It's very doable to leap-frog someone here if you practice the pit entrance with the two chicanes, and of course the exit which is difficult.

I doubt there would be any advantage to fuel saving in this race. Of course a viable strategy often used by top teams is to fuel save when the pack is close together at the beginning of the race. They simply let off the gas well before the corner, creating some distance between the guy ahead of you and then braking very late, gaining the distance back.

Does anybody know time-wise how much fuel equals 4 tires?

Putting 60 litres fuel in the car takes an age. I think in a 4 tire Pit Stop you can add something like 8 litres (or perhaps gallons, not sure?) in the time it takes to change the tires.

I'm running as much fuel as humanly possible simply because I'm used to it and it allows me to get faster as the race progresses. It also means I have a much shorter Pit Stop that others and often gains me positions.

Oh good point, I didn't even think of that. If the tank fills up that slowly it doesn't make sense to take anything less than 80L.
