iRacing Endurance Races 2015

Now i'm registering a second account with iRacing as i'm more of a double D guy ;-)

Just tried a practice session with the McLaren team. It gave me car number #95 for some reason while on the website it shows #119. Nobody else was using 119 in the session.

Also, the website paint wasn't working in the results. The B2O paint in-game worked fine though.

I'm pretty sure I designated 119 for Team McLaren but I'll check again.

Good to know at least the Livery is working ingame, that's the most important part.

Yup, eventho i only saw the rear of it tonight it's a damn good skin from any angle!

Saw some other angles on my car but that was when a macca tried to overtake me on grass after the second chicane.

I fixed the car number and website paint for the McLaren. The wheels were also still black so I changed them to red.

The problem was that when you go to your teams and then click customize team you get directed to the paint area. Only when you get there, it selects the B2O/Practice Pals team by default (which had car number 199 etc. :p). I didn't notice it at first because it makes no sense why it would pick that team if you already selected to customize a different team.

You might want to check the BMW team again. The car number is correct, but I wasn't sure if the BMW would be running the red wheels too, or black.

EDIT: A little confusing but I mentioned number 119 earlier. This should have been 199 and should be correct now.

Hey Peebles! I checked and I am good to go to run Saturday. I'll probably try and get more practice in tonight and tomorrow and if someone can share it, like a dolt I forgot to save the setup last night.

does anyone know if you can change wing angle in the pits? I have a feeling I was running a much taller wing than peebles was in practice.

Good Lord, that makes absolutely no sense that it would do that. Good catch Noel.

I'm sure the same issue exists for the BMW so I'll check because I'd like our Enduro Teams to run those red rims, they look sweet.

Also, I'm starting to wonder if I'm on my own this weekend as well because I never saw Pancake on last night? Hopefully I can talk to him during League Friday night because we gotta get this buttoned up.

I'll have to create a new BMW Team for you guys.

You cannot. This is why it's so important that everyone is on the same page and runs the same setup from the start.

In real life, it takes quite a bit of time to change the wing angle. You need to unbolt it, move it, then bolt it back on, on both pillars. The time you'd lose changing the wing would completely nullify whatever you'd hope to gain.

I can either hop on for a short while tonight with you and Peeble or tomorrow night after League.

If I do hop on tonight it will only be to help with setup though because tonight is Elite: Dangerous Thursday.

Also ID, I need to know how you want your name presented on the car because I'll need to add both your and Peeble's names above the doors.

Presented how? Like what my name will say? I'm good with whatever. Not picky really.

Well for reference then I was able to get to Peeble lap times with Duke's setup but with 5 degrees of wing. I tried dropping it down after and the rear end got a little too happy on me. I dunno what Peeble was running lastnight.

I think I'm running -2 Wing and still get decimated by the McLaren and Ruf on any straight; it's ridiculous. I can draft up to both cars better than S3 but not nearly the closure rate that both close on me.

I catch them slightly before the brake markers before T1 where both are able to catch me slightly after Pit Entry Wall, in some cases at Pit Entry Wall.

...and this is with a better exit out of the last turn by the BMW. I almost always drive through Marc on the final turn and come out of it faster than he does but it makes little difference on the straight.

I think the BMW is really good in and through corners but still suffers on corner exit and straight line speed even with the S4 BOP.

I was in draft and pulled bumper to bumper with both cars last night and both were able to run away from me on the Pit Straight. The only way I could make a pass is with a good run, anything less and both cars could easily hold me off.

I think what's happened here is the BMW was wayyyyy too OP in the early days and that's all people seem to remember. I vowed I wouldn't buy the car (if you remember Noel) but at Phillip Island it was a full second faster than both the Ruf and the McLaren and far more controllable.

Now it's been nerfed to oblivion a number of times and when they buff it even a bit all you hear is people complain.

It's good in mid-speed corners which is why it was so good at Mid Ohio but my guess is that it will continue to suffer on the longer straights this season.

BUT, after all that winging I can say it's at least a bit closer to the McLaren on shorter straights.

It's still got nothing for the Ruf though, at least not at Monza.

I am not. I am really green to the gt3 cars, and I've am more concerned with being planted and safe atm and worry about performance when I get comfortable with the car.

Throttle mapping or shaping allows you to mess with how much throttle is being applied vs how much pedal travel you're actually doing. There's a graph somewhere that I can't find right now

10 is completely linear. Meaning 50% throttle travel is 50% engine torque. The graph looks like a straight diagonal line from 0% to 100%

1 is curved. It looks like an S. So the first part of travel, I believe, is less, the middle is more than the travel would indicate, and towards the end curves back to being less than the travel. Translation: Throttle Map 1 Might be a lot less on the throttle for the first 30% of the pedal travel, but after 30% travel or whatever, it's more (and hopefully you'll be getting more grip by then) until it fades back. So a slight lift to 90% throttle would also reduce the speed less than a throttle map of 10.

Make sense?

Here we go... found Tim Olsen's explanation:

Here is the "throttle shape" when TPS is set on 1.

The horizontal (X) axis represents throttle travel, the vertical (Y) axis represents the throttle response. As you can see, the first bit of throttle travel doesn't result in much throttle response, the last bit of travel doesn't result in much additional response. The throttle is most responsive in the middle 50% to 60% of throttle travel.

When the TPS is set on 10, the "throttle shape" is linear and would look like a straight line that extends from where the X and Y axis meet at the 0,0 coordinates and goes up and to the right at a 45 degree angle. So when the throttle has traveled 25% for example, the throttle response would also be 25%.

Between that, it's a combination of the S curve and the straight line, depending on what you set. At 5, for example, the throttle would be more responsive in the beginning and at the end of the throttle travel than a TPS of 1, yet it wouldn't be quite as linear as 10 either.
I think personally I've really settled into using something in the realm of 5. Again it's feel. And it's nice as it's something you can set in-car.

If you're getting a lot of throttle-on oversteer, I'd defintely recommend messing with this setting. Try bumping the Throttle Map downward.

That's neat I may have to tinker with that and see if it helps, i take it the mappings between 1 and 10 are the same with different levels?
