iRacing Practice Pals Discussion

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

To be honest, I think that it's the first two laps where people tend to get the ridiculously low times they record. I've seen very few racers who are noticeably faster than me even 5 laps into a Practice Session.

I do think that since the tires are under pressure they tend to be a bit more spongey in the first few laps but as already mentioned, I don't think I've ever gained time on a straight on cold tires.

Welcome guys! The more the merrier I would say ;)

As for the flag d000kie, just go with a Dutch flag, I wouldn't really know anything else. I like my orange/black paint scheme. So if it's not too much work, try to involve some of that.

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

I'm probably going to stick with blue and black on the MX-5 Wappy just because it's Racing Team colors for the MX-5. We've adopted Red and Black for the CTS-VR so the question is, what car are you going to drive beyond the MX-5 that we can dress in Orange and Black?

I'd rather have all cars in the series the same color scheme as that's typically how most racing teams seem to operate.

Anyway, I recorded and uploaded that rather spectacular crash yesterday during the Cadillac CTS-VR Practice Pals event. I've captured it from a few different perspectives too, hope you enjoy.

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

Damn work keeps me busy lately, single moms screwing up my schedule (I live a minute walking distance to my work. It is not good, they call me in all the time...lol) :(

Hopefully I can manage to join you guys, sooner rather than later.
Got the "buy $100 for $75" deal and bought Skippy and bunch of tracks.
Skippy is great, something about seeing your wheels just gets me going, and the community is great, try it guys if you didn't already!
Right now I practice Mazda Cup tracks with MX and test the same tracks with Skippy.
Put about 10 laps @LRP chicane in Skippy and right off the bat I improved my MX time by over a second! Skippy will teach you to be real smooth on the brakes (they lock up quite fast, smooth is paramount with it).

Nice crash there, Duke...I don't know if I can fly that far in flight sims ;)
And leave Quicksilver alone, not his fault he's got irresistible booty...REPRESENT!!!

Every time I see something orange now I instinctively jump out of the way to avoid guaranteed chaos.
Also, it looks like someone posted a video of Wapwap's run in the Cadillac at LRP:

Nice video Duke, looks awesome from different angles.

Looks like the physics model needs some work. Great video nonetheless. :icon_razz:

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

Made a video out of what happened in the open practice session that Duke and I were in:

You held it together quite nice thought; it could have gone much worse than that as we well know lol.

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

Depending on how tonight's Pit Practice goes and TT (if I have time), I may race GT3 @ Zandvoort tomorrow AM.

...not sure if I'm ready for 70 minutes though?

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

It's not a bad track for 70 minutes. I've done a race earlier this week and I found it pretty easy to drive around consistently if I don't push hard every lap. It did help that I didn't have to race anyone except passing lapped cars.

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

You're a full second faster than I am around Zandvoort though so it may be a bit different for me. I've come close but I've yet to break into the 34's so depending on split I may find myself gridding somewhere between 10th - 15th.

The only thing I seem to have going for me is my laptimes are pretty consistent around here but I'm wondering if there even fast enough to stay on the lead lap over 70 minutes?

The story's a bit different in the Caddy this week though because I'm quite competitive there I think. I've got decent pace and I think with more practice I can get into the low 30's and perhaps even break into the high 29's.

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

Considering I got coarsed into buying the V8 like a girl with a dildo, I mean child with the candy, I'm up for some practice before end of the week (I got Brands too).

Tonight, I should be on as I feel like crap so took day off work.

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

Cool, I'll probably be around too. Intending to race that thing as soon as I've found some pace and consistency.

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

Sweet. With my new job starting week after next, I'll be on normal hours again and so I'll be able to race Euro TZ more (and super late night a lot less) so hopefully we can get some V8 racing done.

Re: iRacing Practice Pals

Hey everyone. I really miss practice pals GT3. Can we decide on a night and get together?? Me and Justin were talking about and thought maybe we could have something scheduled one or two nights a week. Set a time and a day and everyone show up. That would be great. Thanks

Just had the week off from vaca, but normally nights I can do would be Sunday/Monday early afternoon/evenings. I realize those probably aren't the most opportune days for others. I'm also running a lot of D-class practice sessions solo (this week the Kia at Summit, and Skippy @ VIR). I'd like to get to C so I can start running in the Star Mazda and the GT cars.

Would be great to have a couple of, 'official', days during the week for practice pals. :D Lord knows, I could use some serious practice with my racecraft!!

Duke, thx again for the practice pals skin for the KIA! ;) I think your TS server went tits up last night for a short while there at the end.

Looking forward to more practice pal sessions. Definitely a good time and was well worth the practice.
