iRacing Practice Pals Discussion

Think it would be a good idea to have a Practice Pals session tonight at the Ring? It's a challenge by yourself but driving among others really teaches you what you can and cannot do. Especially since in public practice sessions the traffic is usually spread out a lot.

Um I don't know? I was actually intending to follow the GT3 Schedule but if there's more who want to drive the Ring I'll fall in.

Few of us had a ton of fun Saturday ripping around the ring in Lotus 49's... well I was in a 79 because DOWNFORCE.

Hehe, it looks like you guys were in the "pro" practice. Igor Sushko and Joe Osborne for example were also in the iRacing Pro Race of Champions.

I wrote "pro" in quotation marks because they made official GT3 splits look like a clean race.

Well I'd venture a guess that none of them are regular sim racers and it's not a perfect transition to and from RL/a sim.

Still though, that means among those pros you listed above, I've also raced with AJ Allmendinger. Man I feel special.

Hey guys, I know the 'ring' isn't very popular around here, and GT3 is, like, the most unpopular set of cars in iRacing, but I just wondered if anyone would be interested in using Tuesday nights as an opportunity to run the Nordschleife Tourist Hot Lap Competition?

If you're not familiar with the series, here are the details:
"The Nordschleife Tourist Hot Lap Competition is a solo, single lap qualifying lap open to all of iRacing's GT3 cars. Designed in part to acquaint iRacers with the many twists, turns, ups and downs of the Nordschleife's "Tourist Configuration", the Hot Lap Competition is not your "average" Week 13 Series: it’s slated to run for six weeks, with 20 minute sessions starting every 10 minutes.

Safety Ratings and iRatings are in effect, offering one and all the opportunity to boost their license ratings before promotions for the coming season are finalized at week's end. Likewise, rookies who have yet to complete the category-specific minimum participation requirements for graduation to a D license (four time trials) can do so by running four incident-free time trials."

I realize that this has already been done once and I'm not proposing anything 'new', but I just thought maybe we could make it a more permanent fixture of Practice Pals, at least for the remainder of this season.

I think it's a really good idea. It depends on how late on Tuesdays we would run this whether I can consistently join or not.

Also, I had no idea you would gain iRating from those qualifying laps. How does that work? I can't find any results anywhere, probably because the site is mostly broken.

I can get around the track without any 1x's no problem.

...the problem lies in the fact it takes me 10 minutes to do it :icon_redface:

I can't turn down the idea but I know personally I need more practice running GT 3 before I attempt anything there that involves SR and IR. Going to do a bit of practice this afternoon and maybe tonight in GT 3 and give the hot lap comp a go.

This sounds wicked. Have always looked at the ring with awestruck eyes. Once I purchase the content in the next week or so and practice my balls off, I will then join y'all!

Wooohoo. The next few weeks are going to be awesome. It's too bad the BSS schedule ends after week 11. No race scheduled for week 12.
