As @QuadroMan1 has stated, I'm interested in making the DD1 a possible addition to my rig in the future. As such, I expect a thorough review on the hardware (and any possible software thats included) as I'm sure you were planning to do anyway. I just wanted to remind you as you seem to be having an issue staying on your rocker as of late.;)

Look forward to it!!!

Still playing with the settings, but out of the box the responsiveness and feeling under load is so far above a belt driven wheel. Even when the wheel is loaded up (e.g. in a high speed corner) it can still apply very small forces to give you feedback about the car. It provides that feedback immediately, so the whole experience feels much more alive. When my CSW would sort of deaden out this thing always has the torque to provide clean fidelity.

From a hardware stand point it's amazing. It's built like a tank. The LED display is actually super useful. It's got some cool diagnostic tools like a torque graph and stats about the health of the wheel base. More importantly though it mirrors the steering wheel setup menu on a much bigger, easier to read, screen. So when you're changing settings for the wheel or the base, it's displayed on the nicer LED on the base.

So far my rig hasn't been an issue. I flattened out the wheel plate and bolted it all down super tight. I've felt a tiny bit of flex, but nothing that ruins the experience. I'll definitely be looking in to an 80/20 rig sometime this year just to get something completely rigid.

Wow I'm amazed that rig flexes with that, it looks sturdy as hell. Makes me paranoid about my GT Omega ART I just recently got. I can try and flex the wheel plate as hard as I want and it just doesn't budge, I'm sure it's a lot different with a direct drive wheel mounted to it. I have a friend to who went to school for welding who can maybe help me out if I have issues though :p

Hearing about the detail it offers makes me so anxious to get one, I should definitely have a pre-order in before they become available again at the end of the month. Just hearing people describe it sounds amazing, all the under load details, feeling the tires actually ride up onto a curb rather than just a hit, it all sounds just amazing.

Just to be thorough, @Brainling, don't forget to do the Fanatec "pre-flight" and go around the entire unit and make sure every screw is tight, especially on the inside of the shaft by the connectors. Looks great though, I'd love to see a video of you using it. Really interested in seeing how your Obutto r3v holds up to it. Mine just doesn't have a chance.

There's really only four bolts to check on these. It's not like the CSW that has all the belt shaft mounting bolts. I did check them though, they are solidly tight.

The flex is super minimal on my Obutto. I don't notice it when I'm driving, but if I tug downward on the wheel really hard it will flex slightly. That said it's vertical flex and most of the load from the wheel is horizontal.

I can't say enough good things about the feedback under load. It's amazing. Another crazy thing I noticed last night is how well it tells you that you shouldn't be turning the wheel anymore. As the tires start to slide through a turn it gives amazing feedback, the wheel starts to slacken and you can tell your inputs aren't helping you turn at that point. Catching slides is incredible to. I caught a couple of slides last night that I would have had trouble catching on my CSW, and I caught them easily. The way the wheel wants to recenter, and the speed at which it can recenter, just makes car control incredible.

Overall I am incredibly impressed. Super glad I made the step up.

DD1 Availability date just got pushed back to 2019-08-16 :( Guess I'm waiting a bit longer.

EDIT: Oh no, the DD2 is still available end of this month... I mean, it *does* come with the 5 year warranty by default
