Never have I seen so much fastness

Wow a drive through of those pits would be a bad penalty. I'm watching the qualify lap of Enzo and it sounds really different downshifting - is he blipping the throttle? I thought when the car has built-in auto-blipping it could not be overridden? He took the kink near the end of the lap like a champ... it wants to swing out from under him and that is scary as hell..

I doubt double blipping would be beneficial. It could just be that he downshifts really early for some reason.

He's taking advantage of basically unlimited qualifying time. He uses a setup that either crashes in Blanchimont or almost crashes. That means the few laps that he makes it to the finish they're fast.

Interesting. I don't know how MoE's qualifying works, but it sounds like I dislike how its setup. I like the idea more of only being given a few laps to make it work, and if you crash out of it then you're shit out of luck. Rewarding very risky driving like that seems counterproductive.

Yes, I agree. There are three 6-hour sessions and you can join more than one, so your team basically has 18 hours to qualify. This means the field is very fast, and very compact and drafting is a big thing.

The race itself was very good. Most of the drivers realised how long the race was and behaved. Because there were so many cars on the track a lot of teams got slow-downs at Eau Rouge without even getting an off-track. The server just couldn't handle it properly. It wasn't too bad because if you asked the admins would clear it.

Our team, Pure Racing Team 2, was doing very well for a long time. We drove fast and consistent for 19 hours and as a result we were in position 8, up from 33rd grid position. Unfortunately, after my 3 hour stint I pitted and we were hit by one of the team racing bugs. The pit stop completed as normal but the driver after me was never released from the pits. We tried everything but didn't even have the option of towing or resetting. As a last resort we even asked for a black flag to see if that somehow would make it work... it didn't of course.

We were pretty pissed by how there was no way to get our car moving again and thus ending our race. iRacing said they fixed the team racing bugs but it seems they were talking bollocks because we were not the only one with issues. PRT 1 for example had the tow bug multiple times.

Next week they have the official Daytona 24 hour test race. They might as well cancel it because it would be pointless to try it with these massive bugs still in existence.

Here are the iRacing results: http://members.iracing.com/membersite/member/EventResult.do?&subsessionid=12744602&custid=121240

Real sorry to hear that. That is far far worse than crashing out. Really ruined the mass amount of preparation and all the work you guys put into the race, especially being top 10 at the time. If they are to do that they have to really ensure the race runs perfectly smooth for everyone...

I guess you live and learn.

Yeah, I wouldn't really mind a tow bug now and then because the feature is still relatively new, but a complete lock on the car should not be possible at this stage.

We can complain and everything but it's not gonna change the result, so I just hope they'll fix everything that's wrong soon (not the "iRacing soon" :)).

Don't think I've posted this here yet. Some of my most scary moments in the MoE Spa 24 hours:

Nice catches! I'm surprised this this car doesn't spin around after you save the slide.

With how many team drivers did you do this race? I suppose you managed to complete it? How does it work with incident points, I guess there's not a limit of 17 points?

Oops, sorry I thought I had replied already. Saving slides in a McLaren looks like this on a timeline, where the "s" is the start of the slide:
s<<<--->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

If you correct during "<" it will snap to oversteer, and if you correct it during ">" it will keep sliding forever, so you have a tiny window to get it straight :)

We did the 24 hour race with 3 drivers. We didn't complete it because we got stuck in the pits after 19 hours with no way to leave. They fixed that bug now though.

We have no incident limit. The admins run software that counts how many off-tracks a team gets and in which section. If you get more than 5 off-tracks per 15 laps in one of those sections you get a drive through. Avoidable contact is protestable.

We've done a race at CotA a few weeks ago. I forgot to update this post then. It wasn't that interesting anyway in my opinion. I like the track, but it's hard to race on, especially with wildly varying wing settings. Me and the other driver on my team both spun a few times and a car hit us, sending us to the pits for 8 minutes, resulting in a 43rd position for us.

Coming weekend is the Bathurst 6 hours, I've updated the first post. I'm now driving with Pure Racing Team 1, because some of our drivers are doing a different race on that day.

I'm looking forward to it but I'm also terrified :D. Managed to qualify 17th so if somebody crashes on the mountain on lap 1 we have a high chance to be in front of them when that happens. I don't think we are given any free repairs so it's going to be an attrition race for sure.

That track man. It is so brutal. There are tracks that I can do very well with little practice, there are tracks that take a lot to be fast, then there's bathurst, that takes me.... well going on 6 months and counting still.
