Trading Paints is still down

Day 2 now of Trading Paints still being down which honestly seems a bit odd.

I don't know exactly what it is that could have happened to keep them down this long but it can't be good? Normally you have server backups of at least the software install and database (if applicable) and use these to restore service on new Hardware if required.

The fact this hasn't happened as of yet makes me wonder if there's a bit more to the issue than we know?

Does anyone have any more up to date information as to what's keeping them down so long?

Personally it doesn't affect me too much as I only have a handful of paints in my Showroom and I'm not financially invested via Trading Paints Pro. Having said that, they probably should be a bit more transparent about the issues and estimated downtime window to those who actually pay for Pro.

Their server provider is transferring stuff to newer, faster, better servers. It's out of TP's control.

That sounds like an awful provider.
They must be, processes like this don't take nearly this long at the Server Level if it's being done by the Host. Remotely yes, it can take forever to do so maybe the Server Provider isn't LAN with their own Servers?

A good service provider would have actually seen issues cropping up if their server monitoring is worth a damn and been more proactive about fixing it before it breaks.

I can't speak for TP's host but ours has a plethora of Server Monitoring Tools that tell you everything about it, what's coming in and what's going out.

If a mouse shits on a router cable I'll likely know about it automatically through e-mail notification lol.

Holy titties, the host certainly takes his time to "fix" it.

No shit. Have you ever heard of an issue that takes even a portion of this timeframe to rectify?

The only time I ever had a site hit this badly was when I was stupid enough to host my domain with a crappy host who pointed it at a Bird Migration Website. That was back in the days when DNS could take up to 3 days to propagate so it was a disaster.

Not so much because my site was invisible for 3 days, more so that Google had re-indexed everything losing my current links and substituting the main ones for this other website.

Yes the last time i experienced an issue like this, i recieved an email that the datacenter was bankrupt.
Took them 5 weeks to notify their customers of it and they offered no backup period to save your data....

And yes, especially google can be a d1ck about it with the SEO and all.
Years of work gone in 48hrs, gotta love it.
