Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

I think it does, but I got it from your replay anyway :)

Can't attach it through the forum because .irlap files aren't allowed (ken pls fix) so here it is if anyone wants it: https://mega.nz/#!TEg3RSAZ!yQtayV14X4SBAqFvBi7wekm3HeoJIORzCidzCNh ZwN4
Yep, I saw it saved this lap, but this was a lap from the hosted session we did in which I had draft, so I don't know if it's a good example.

Thanks to OBS working, I have a video of it as well now:

Re: Daytona 24 B2O team?

Nice lap! I didn't really think to take turn 5 in 1st. Maybe that will help me slow down a tad bit more.

From my basic calcs, to do a 34-lap stint, we'll need to be using about 3.6 liters / lap (LOOK I'm using metric!) When I get home from work (I'll be on around 6pm Eastern) I'm going to do 1-2 stints and try and run a stint with that much fuel usage and see how it goes. My guess is they'll be pretty slow but steady laps.

I've updated the spreadsheet.

I've added some stint duration info to it and on the bottom there is now a lap-by-lap fuel chart.

This chart shows you for any particular amount of laps that can occur according to the calculations, what fuel value you should aim for at the end of every lap.

It says we need to use about 3.8 L / lap for a 34 lap stint. It's different from your number, Kyle, probably because I assume we don't use any fuel in the pits (we're stationary for at least half an hour during the race).

Ah I made an error, I used 120 L tank instead of 130 L. That makes perfect sense. Awesome. I also left a tad bit of leeway.

Being the designer I am and my natural-born hatred of spreadsheets, can you color all the cells based on the fuel usage type? I.E. No fuel saving be light red, distributed be light yellow and fuel saving in light green? Both for the bottom chart and the top charts.

Either way great work, thank you!

No problem, getting the computer to do stuff you don't want to do manually is sort of my field, so I like messing around with it.

To answer your problem with colours; yes and no :p. I'll colour them manually but since the file is a .csv I can't do it automatically, so if I make a new version because of a different lap time or different time zone or something then it won't have the colours anymore.

Edit: unless I can copy the data and save the google format, then it might work.
Edit2: No, that won't work in many cases, the placement of cells changes based on number of stints and other factors.

Looks like, after much research, we confirmed Noel's spreadsheet. I did a fuel-saving stint to do a 34 lap stint, staying between 3.7 and 3.8 liters / lap. The lap times weren't the best but could still hit low 1:45s even without draft.

I was driving the same style as before (without fuel saving) except into turn 1 and the bus stop. I'd lift just after the start/finish and brake later into turn 1. In the bus stop I'd lift a bit after the 3 board then brake a bit later into it.

I tried several times to do a full stint but something always happened.

Isn't that right Peeble

Maybe we should have a more dynamic schedule? Whenever the track gets too busy or there are too many dangerous C7s we just send out Peeble to deal with them discreetly?

I actually managed a full fuel stint last night, much to my surprise after runins with a DP and Davey :D . I'll try to find how many laps I did, but after 2 hits square in the back and 30 seconds of optional (pace not affected), I was pretty happy with the car and know what to expect. Now....for traffic..pray to whichever god you want not to pit out behind a DP.

Nice job Dino.

Everyone should be trying full-fuel stints now and aiming to get at least 33 laps, preferably 34 laps. See Noel's fuel stint schedule if you have concerns, but a 34 lap stint equates to using under 3.8 liters/lap.

So practice that, because it won't be about speed when we're racing, but conserving fuel and staying alive.

An interesting bit I found someone posted on the iRacing forums. This is the lap difference between the winners and 2nd place of last years Daytona 24 splits:

Split - Laps ahead of 2nd:
1 - 6
2 - 7
3 - 45
4 - 9
5 - 9
6 - 2
7 - 8
8 - 11
9 - 23
10 - 13

Also, I noticed that even idliing in pits, almost a liter is used while waiting, so I advise shutting engine down.

Yeah, not a bad idea, but then you'd need to make sure to have a button mapped to both Ignition AND Starter mapped, because Ignition Only doesn't always start, and it gets worse if you panic.. :D Not that I would know... :icon_rolleyes:

aaa no Marc you can also shut the engine of with the ignition only kinda sdupit but whatever

and for my taste you guys are a bit too much focused on that fuel strategy.... it feels like as if you have planned the event so much that you guys are already in the finish... 85hours and 35mins before the actual finish of the race...

Relax bois. Its nice and good to know some different stretegies and stuff but right now you are focusing too much on it. For the whole first half strategy is no big thing. then you can start looking where you are who is left, where are they, etc.

We're just trying to cover the best case scenario. We know it's unlikely that our race will go according to schedule but on the off chance that it does it would be silly not to have a plan.

I have a made a video demonstrating what Kyle said about fuel saving. I'm lifting before turn 1, 2, 5 and the bus stop to make 3.7 L per lap. With a lap time of below 1:45s any more than that usage is going to make it tight. If you're doing mid to high 1:45s you can probably use 3.8 L / lap and still be fine. Without fuel saving I'm using around 3.9-4.0 L / lap.

Nice lap Noel.

Sure we could go out there with no planning and probably do OK. Just better to be prepared, rather than not. Some people don't want to or don't care to, and they'll still make it.
