Where do you get RPG from? I never said anything about that...

You're running a business, something it's touted to do since at least ETS. You can hire more drivers, buy trucks for your fleet, etc, so it sounds like TO ME it is trying to be a driving sim with a truck business sim.

So why is it so much for me to ask that that aspect of the game be much much better? Not to mention the basic premise of the game is taking jobs that require an economy, and there's no real economy, so how can you run a business?
If you've played any of these games you realize you're just barely running a business. You have loan payments and expenses to deal with but all are automated and add little to nothing to the game. The only reason to have a company at all is to be more profitable and buy more stuff, aside from that it's a background task at best.

From an income standpoint you can hire drivers with different abilities/skillsets and then you pretty much never interact with them again except to fire the odd underachieving pleb or two.

The only actual economy in the game is quite shallow in terms of how you choose what to haul and where.

...and yes you never did come out and say you wanted an RPG but that's exactly what you're asking for.

An economy system means that every single trip will require much more in the way of planning to ensure you've got the most economical route possible while yielding the highest returns.

Now add this to a Company (or several companies) with multiple drivers and you're no longer a driver because you're too busy working out what your drivers should be doing.

This game is simply built around driving and it does that pretty well.

@ little P: I think there's a non lit version of the peterbilt logo on the front too. And perhaps halve the amount of roof lights, usually they are not that close together, and it will looked pimped but not over the top.
Great minds think alike Shilka, I'd already done something along those lines. This is what "The Passion Wagon" looks like right now... :)

RPG =/= Business sim. I'm not sure why you think those are even remotely the same. That's like saying roller coaster tycoon or railroad tycoon is an RPG. They're business sims, whether more arcade, or fairly realistic.

And your first paragraph is exactly my point. I KNOW that there is only that to it and I'm saying it would be nice to have a ton more. And yes I own and played ETS2 so I know it. Fully understand that this is a driving sim first.

I get that you just want to drive and want the simple part. I've been saying that is precisely what is keeping me away from the game. I said I'd be on board if they added tycoon (read: business sim. not RPG) aspects to it.

lol all you do in the Tycoon Series is manage and build stuff.

It's a completely different genre.

OK duke. Clearly I'm ridiculous for expecting what is already a part of this game, only better. And games aren't allowed too transcend genres. These action rpgs like fallout 4 are ridiculous. Needs to be either the old isometric rpg, or an action shooter.

Just as long as you understand rpg is no where near the same as a business sim haha

Yeah I just like to drive to be honest. If they were to develop that side of things it could be future DLC but I don't think the time spent on making it decent versus the income generated would make it worthwhile for them to do so.

In an ideal world that option would be there if you wanted it but I don;t think it would ever happen from a business perspective.

I like that you have dreams though Daunt. Keep dreaming buddy. Or better still, learn how to make games and then make it happen. That would be awesome.

Good news, the Kenworth W900 has finally made it through the licensing process, and is expected to be added within a few days. SCS is working on finalizing the free update as we speak. Will be good to have a hood blocking our view!

Any word on Maps yet because I'm already over 50% done and that's in 13 hours of gameplay?

Nope.

I'm just above 70% in 48 hours BTW, but I'm just taking jobs based on profit per mile, and not based on 'ooh, haven't been there yet', so I'm letting fate decide if I end up on a new stretch of road or not so to speak.

I'm hoping on Arizona soon too though, although I'm not feeling like I'm running out of things to do and see yet to be honest.

MP is a nice change of pace too btw, though with 2000 trucks on the road driven by all sorts of people in a single server, it's interesting in the same way as it's interesting to stick your penis in a hornets nest...

I've been playing a bit differently in that I stuck to most of California just because I had no interest whatsoever in Nevada. Then I got stuck taking a job into Northern Nevada (forget where) and it was the best drive to that point.

As of yesterday I unlocked all the cities in Nevada. Never thought I'd find it interesting but it certainly is especially when you transition from Nevada to Cali or vice-versa.

The full game is limited to California and a certain amount of jobs lol.

Well there is Nevada but really you can do that in a couple of hours so basically you're getting 85% of the game, probably more for free.
