B2O iRacing 24H of Nürburgring Team Discussion

problem is that we need a 3 hour session to double stint
edit: i guess i can host a 4 hour session if there isn't already one up, but i want realistic track conditions (the same ones we have in open practice) to get a good idea of lap times. how do i do that?
Yep, 21:00 Dutch time.

To get the same conidtions:
Weather: default & morning
Track starting state: automatically generate
Clean marbles: check the box.

I'll be BF1'ing with Marc tonight because he somehow convinced me to buy the Premium Pass...but I'll be practicing late PST time if anyone happens to be around. Considering taking tomorrow off too.

So BF1 is on tap tonight eh? I'd consider buying the base game but I'm guessing it is rare to play the included maps?

Fuel schedule team 1.
I'll make the formatting nicer later.

It looks to me like we have two choices. The first is doing 20 stints out of which 3-4 are 7-lap stints. The other choice is doing 19 stints while fuel saving in about 5 stints. I think I prefer 20 stints because for 9-lap stints we'd need to save at least 6 L which might be quite a lot, and there aren't very many coasting areas at Nurburgring.

I tried all 3 setups tonight. I thought your set was pretty good in slow corners, @Sam Roselaar , but I think the wing was too low because it felt unstable in some places and in the braking zones. Getting on the power was mostly straightforward.

The VRS set and Wyatt's set feel fairly similar but I think I like Wyatt's set more for stability. I'm not sure on which I am faster but I don't think there is a big difference.

i would prefer the 20 stint race aswell.

i just drove a double stint with the VRS set. so my vote is on the VRS set. pls don't make me change sets again :p

i didn't change tires and i found it very interesting that my best lap time was in my 2nd stint. my first stint had an average of 8:34,106 and my 2nd one 8:35,488. average fuel consumption around 11,61L. i was alone on the track but it was in realistic conditions.

so old tires don't really make you any slower at all(or barely). it does however especially near the end of the 2nd stint give you more wheelspin/oversteer. which can in some situations lose you some time or a lot of time. but most of that can be avoided by pushing less (something i didn't do) or simply correcting the slides.

i had 1 or 2 small slides which cost me around 1,5 sec each and 1 bigger one at the GP part which sent me into the sand and i lost around 3-4 sec (at Schumacher S).
then again simply pushing the car less can avoid this really easily.

i lost some time near the end of the 2nd stint but overall i think we should seriously consider doing this strategy since i lost 8x1,5 = 12 27-12 = 15 seconds gained!

so without my stupid spins and pushing the car less i think you can gain around 20 seconds just by skipping tires, pushing the car less would also reduce the risk of spinning. is it worth the risk though?

@Noodleguitar maybe you want to give it a try too? i'd like your opinion on it.
i'd say we do it but only if everyone in the first team have had practice with it and agrees on the strat, just so they know how the car handles with old tires.

Late breaking! Bedo forgot his wedding anniversary is Saturday, so he can't drive Saturday night. So he needs to drive Saturday and Sunday morning. Just based on speed, he could double stint start and close but totally up to you guys.

I did a FFR in an OPS tonight. 8 laps. Not much traffic except for Aki on my butt Car feels good except tires are pretty slippery last 2 laps when fuel is low. Last lap particularly had a couple of oversteer slides, so might need to rein in some on last lap. Had top Porsche time in session 8:41. Obviously a slow session.

@Noodleguitar i think you made an error in the Schedule. It says i have a quad stint near the end. and at such horrible dutch time too :p

Please let this be an error. Quad stint at 5 am kill me now xD

This was my bad, not Noël's! I changed it. Let me know if that works better. I do have you running a triple, and Noël running two triples (although one is at the end and might just be 2.5?). Let me know if this is okay. Also, if @incndry gets his wheel sorted, his PST time zone will take some of the load off of those late evening GMT triples!

I'd rather have many doubles but i dont mind triples a quad would kill me though :p

Also i dont really mind driving late eve gmt
Its the early 5am gmt im worried about
