We did that because I did NOT want to work you through that, not to mention trying to teach you everything else. During Red Flag ops, it's actually required.

Not to mention in-flight, I'm tweaking many buttons and such (MFD buttons, radar buttons, ICP, lights, etc) readying weapons (master arms switch) etc... which I don't want to have to bind every single thing in the cockpit to keyboard buttons. I see the damn rocker switch why can't I just flip it???

And yes Duke, Quick corrected me, but it is not present in F-15s (it's not a complete module I guess... but the more expensive modules do have it)

And I still say it's not fair to judge the new release of BMS on your experience. But it's ok. You're talking a big commercial developer versus people who do this on the freetime for FREE. They can have all the bugs they want, they'll flesh it out in time. Shit happens.

Ah I see. Yeah it's a lot to take in. Well, let me know if you fancy one of the more expensive modules with clickable everything and complicated stuff. I'm always up for that. I really must try this Huey too I think, it looks too much fun trying to keep it in the air let alone land it where you want to etc.

I'm getting a track IR 5 within the next few weeks too to tide me over until the Rift and for when I don't want to shut off from the room completely, looking forward to that :)

You bought it? Gah!

I am probably going to pick up a PSeye camera (7 bucks) and use facetracknoir to tide me over until the rift. hurry please!

They've released DCS: world alpha 2.0 today together with the Nevada test range map.

Currently the servers are having some issues getting the clients the right files but as soon as i get it working as intended i'll post a link.

I've been downloading it for a bit now, speed was up and down. No idea if files are correct :D
Yes, that's exactly why i waited.
It seems it downloads from torrent, and when it switches to http it causes a file mismatch.

Let me know how it works out for you bud.

I finished the D/l....but it's not useable if you didn't buy the Nevada test range map....

DCS world2.0 is free, the terrain apparently isn't.
I spend most of the day in bed with a splitting headache and when i decided to get my "flight" on it asked me to buy a key for 50 something....

Oh and on a sidenote, they still haven't responded to my support ticket.

Gotta love Eagle Dynamics...

I'll just stick to the content i have and will not buy any more from them until i've had an answer to my question.

Bought the UH1H and the FC3 pack on steam, and since a few weeks the latter isn't functioning due to an invalid key.. yeah right i bought it through steam.

The Nevada test range has always been a paid for bit of content unless you purchased A10C when it was released. I think it may also only be in the DCS beta client version.

I think the pots on my stick have gone which is unfortunately as I want to try this out.

If I remember correctly, DCS modules should give you the option for simple and advanced startup procedures.

They did it for those that don't want to spend 2+ minutes starting up their aircraft (such as the KA50 Black Shark) and months of getting familiar with how to do so.

At least that's the way it is with the KA50 and the Huey, I can't speak for the other modules.
The Su27 and F15 are both pro flight models but not full sim aircraft. Apparently the Mig21 is the most complicated of the lot now. The Hawk unsurprisingly is a good training aircraft.

Yeah, I had FC3, so I get all the FC3 aircraft that get a new FM/modules free. I never really played with it because up until recently it had the simple flight model and simple systems model. I did try the new Su27 though. That's really interesting to fly now. I can't wait for the Typhoon and the rework of the Mig29.

I always intended to play more when either Nevada came out or the VEAO training pack arrived.

If i can get my fc3 working anytime soon i'm up for some "West vs East" practice.
I've flown the Flanker before but can't remember if the flightmodel was already overhauled or not.

We should revive the 332 and see who is up for some more regular flights.
That is if your joystick is fully functioning ;-)

The Su27 was updated earlier this year. Just get the FC3 key and tie it too your DCS world account and you'll just need to log into the downloads portion of the game and it will appear and download.

I've done all that. It doesn't even give the "unbind" option anymore when i check the website.

Most if not all aircraft modules have been developed by 3rd party developers, with exception of FC3. Those are a legacy from LOMAC days, but now they're starting to get overhauled FMs in line with other modules. System still remain very simplistic. Huey is probably right after that as it takes all of 2-3 minutes to get it combat ready from a cold-and-dark cockpit (Battery, Generator, started, fuel on, wait for RPM, full throttle set-normal in helos, arm weapons, pick boom-boom of choice, fly). Next up is the MiG-21: yes, many buttons, but actually very simple, as with most, you just turn them on and away you go. Not much in terms of weapons: dumb bombs, rockets, IR and radar missiles..and gun..all configured with 4-5 switches. A-10C and Ka-50 could be on par, but A-10 has a much wider array of munitions to deliver, going from IR missiles, across Mavs to LGBs, while Ka-50 has a few less, but required delicate hand when flying (autopilot helps here too, as it's means to be stationary and pop-up when needed).

Duke, months are an exaggeration, if you understand one plane, you will easily understand them all, just like cars. Once you learn the principle, you can apply them everywhere. Weeks maybe, months if you're lazy :D

It does take a fair while to learn all the cockpit functions for the A10C in simulation mode. The KA50 is easier but the art to flying that comes in learning the autopilot functions, as it's meant to be flown with the autopilot on at all times and the routing mode used a good deal.

The difference between driving and learning to fly is the cockpit systems. Once you get passed the universal flight controls, learning how to deal with emergencies, navigation and weapon systems is unique to most of the aircraft. I'm fairly familiar with the KA50 but learning to deal with emergency procedures on it is entirely something else.

Downloading the 2.0 alpha at the moment just need to open up my fighter stick to clean the pots to see if that fixes things.

The pots on my CH Fighter stick have died :( Still got 12 years very thorough use out of it so definitely worth the money. Sold the CH Throttle to one of the guys I play EVE with and Bought a Thrustmaster Warthog :D

If anyone wants to play some DCS at the weekend I'm up for it.
