P, if you want to, we could meet up one of these days and I could drop you a few cargoholds full of expensive stuff for you to sell towards getting some upgrades or stuff. Got my lacon-6 upgraded how I want it, so from now on I'm just saving my money to get like 25 million for a lacon 7. It will take a while, so might as well do some donations to get you going a bit. I decided to hold on to my type 6 because empty it's great for long distance stuff like rare trades and exploring (22 LY jumps)

It would help if you could manage to get into TS though, because the connectivity of the ingame chat is absolutely horrible...:(

Anyway, on my way back from a long distance rare trade goods, after that I'll be in and around Eravate again, so let me know if you're up for a bit of financial aid :D

Found an interesting system today while viewing blackholes near my route. HD202860 has 2 White starts and 64 planets in it. I will scan this because it should be worth a fortune.

Depends a bit what kind of planets, if they are 300 credit iceplanets it takes a lot of time for little money. The white stars are usually nice money though. Sometimes it's hard to judge, found quite a few gas giants that turned oout to have water based life benath the cloudy gas layers, and also some rock stuff with barely an atmosphere that turned out to be terra formable...

Biggest system I found so far had 3 stars and 94 planets, but the stars were cold and nearly all planets were ice planets with icey moons :( Only scanned the 3 metal rich ones and moved on...

mondo

Hardcore
This one is has over 20 metal rich planets. I've ignored quite a few systems so far apart from 1 advanced scan to get all the planets and routes but this I couldn't resist due to the sheer number of different planets available.

Oh nice, that should be decent money for sure. Most I got so far is around 60K. In the center of the milky way it seems most good systems are already known and inhabited, looks like for the real exploring money you need to go more outwards...

btw anyone know who 'Knobber' is, got an ingame friends request, but got no idea who it is :D

heh tis me.

I'm noe 1400ly out from Sol. Only 600 more to go before I get to my first stop. The distances between jumps here is very large. I should have lightened my load more as 26ly hops is not all that big it turns out.

I reached the North American nebula, it's smaller than it looks on the galaxy nap so I'm going to Sadr, which is a dirty great black hole and looks quite scary.

Nice! How do you go about setting up a route for such great distances? Do you line up your target with your position in the galaxymap and shove forward in like 100 LY steps, or do you use coordinates to set up a rough route, or just sit for an hour in the galaxy map untill a route has been calculated?

btw, pics or it didn't happen :p

I took some pics but will post them later on. Managed to find a system with not 1 or 2 black holes but 3! Plus a yellow/white super giant. I must say though the black hole was quite underwhelming :(. The Yellow/white giant on the other hand was truly massive. I did take a picture. The system I think was called HD 193576, it's 100ly behind the Pelican nebula.

I just picked an end system I wanted to get to in each location then did it in 100-150 ly steps. The galaxy map is great but it does need some work for long distance travel, to be able to record my route so I could take it back or at least plan routes back along routes I've taken would be great. It's going to be as hard to go back to civilisation as it was to leave.

I found that the jumps between systems was becoming greater and greater so had to occasionally retrace steps as my 26ly jump distance wasn't long enough.

I'm considering cutting my journey short to head back and reconfigure my ship. I need to lighten the load to make the most out of the A grade FSD. That means dropping all the lasers (don't need them anyway past 400ly), shield cell bank (didn't need it), putting the hull back to it's basic armour, the lightest most efficient automated repair unit and then looking at what systems can be replaced with lighter ones. Also debating losing the cargo hold as that adds nothing and potentially reducing the fuel bay from 32 to 16 but I'd have to refuel every 70ly or so.

Hi Shilka that's very kind of you. I would have to decline the free moneyz but would love to join you on some trade runs where I can do my share of the hauling until I can get a 6 too :) Would love to get to this point as it seems once you get a 6 you can really start raking in the cash. It's hard getting to that point though for sure. The only way I would accept the cargo is in the case of a trade for my services as an escort when wings is released ;) And no. Not that kind of escort... :p

Yes, I will definitely try and get on TS, the trouble is the times I get to jump on either the kids are running around or my wife has friends over or something. Not good for TS lol

If I manage to get on of an evening and I see you on I will 100% jump on TS and hopefully you can share some profitable trade routes with me. :)

I'll add you in E:D Mondo.

I shall refer to you from this point on as Phileas Fogg. ;)

Could I be James Cook? I fear my fate is being bludgeoned to death by a local because I made a space faux pas.

Wow, there's still more to this game as I thought there was...

Did you know if you work on building up the influence of a local faction (preferrably with a group to speed things up), they will not only start taking over more and eventually all of the stations in the system, but if you keep supporting them (do the messages, trades, weapon supplies etc), they will eventually become 'expansive' and start taking over in neighbouring systems!

So many details and features in this game I didn't know about, or even expect to be there...

Update: I was looking for a film on netflix and took 12% heat damage to my hull.

Heading back to civilisation now and 1900 ly to go. Delivering my juicy payload into Mother Gaia in Sol for maximum rep bonus with the Federation.

Will attempt to scan most of the systems I encounter on the way back, well at least those of interest. I discovered that print screen in Elite does absolutely nothing. More sadfaces.

PrtScrn?! Alt + F10 is where the party's at :p

Sounds like an epic journey Mondo...

Wel, this resident spacebum has evolved into a purple fedora wearing, feather boa rocking space pimp of the highest order thanks to Shilka helping me out with mapping a tasty trade route that I've done more than a few times now :) (thanks buddy)

Shilka, you were right about it being interesting discovering new systems as the route planner takes you in different directions according to weight, FSD range etc. changes. Stumbled across a beautiful quad star system, but no disco scanner so I've noted it down and will go back once I have a detailed surface scanner and advanced disco scanner.

So, I'm now rocking around the christmas tree in a kitted out Cobra MK III, slowly upgrading things to A class. When that's done I'll keep that as my general whip and off I go to Empire space towards my ultimate goal - the Imperial Clipper.

Gawd I love this game! :)

Oh yeah forgot ab00t that! I came back in TS once I got it sorted but you'd all left (it was late by the time I got it going again).

Turns out I had to uninstall, re-install the drivers, update them, then set up a custom profile again. Which after about half a bottle of Honey JD wasn't as easy as it should have been. Shouldn't be any problem from now on though :)

Wapwap was obsessed with Uranus and the rings around Uranus wasn't he? I mean it's flattering but slightly disturbing at the same time...

Fly safe CMDR's! :D

Update 1.04 is out, some nice touches here like the updating of the exoplanets as per Keplar's discovery this week, and the bounties fix for destroying a ship by my favourite method, targeting his power plant. Server side updates yet to be confirmed later today I believe.

- If a station somehow loses it's parent then move it to another body so players at that station can load

- Prevent inconsistencies between client and server in which parts of a sector are and are not occupied
- Some fixes to meta-data that were being disguised by an issue with inconsistent generation
- When deciding if we should go hostile to a faction we just shot, consider whether the target has a local bounty rather than a bounty with their own faction. Prevent people being attacked by the police after attack nearby wanted targets
- Fix only the first consequence being applied to the universe state when completing a mission
- Set killer before we do ship death - fixes problem with players not getting bounties or reputation when they kill other players by breaking critical modules
- Reduce likelihood of server disconnects from stellar forge server queries
- Fix mouse control if galaxy map opened with key binding when in outfitting
- Updated exoplanets Kepler 438 b and 442 b
- Add produced by and consumbed by information to all trade goods (except rares)
- Telemetry added to try and figure out why some machines are failing to load resource files
- Remove the terraforming data for Pareco system causing an assert
- Fix packet loss statistics
- Use the correct absolute magnitude in bolometric luminosity calculations
- Various text fixes

There are some online changes as well which Andy will post in his update, but one change is worth mentioning here - there should be an improvement in matchmaking that should mean you are more likely to see other players if they are in the same region as you.

Well got back and was disappointed in just how little I made: 1.8m. Doesn't seem like a good trade off for all the time that was spent. The only plus side is I'm now an exploring "Trailblazer" and actually allied with the Federation.

We thought you'd lost the way in Uranus!
Good to hear you were able to sort it out.
