That's really the trick at Spa in general isn't it, getting a good lap in? There are plenty of places to see decent gains and just as many to lose them in.

I'm having a horrible time getting through Eau Rouge. The only way I can get through without and off track, cut track or out of control is to drag the brakes ever so slightly going into the right up the hill.

Going through Eau Rouge is a bit different than GT cars; it requires more finesse. I think they did something with the off-track on the left in the entry to Eau Rouge. You can cut it quite a bit now before getting an off-track.
I wonder how often they refine the track boundaries. I was watching the 6 hours of Spa and before Blanchimont they swing out very wide right onto the green tarmac, which as far as I can recall, is an off track on iRacing.

Yeah Duke, I think this car requires quite a bit of braking at Eau Rouge, especially because that exit is so important.

On iRacing that is grass Kyle, so you do get an off-track if you go too far onto it, let alone all other problems you may find when going off-road :). It does help your entrance to go a bit on the grass though. Like other places at Spa the edge of the grass acts as a sort of rumble strip, I'm not sure why. You can hear it when you put a wheel off on the left side on the left corner before Blanchimont.

A part of me wonders how iRacing comes up with determining off tracks in the first place? I'm not entirely sure if it's measured by the car or by the drivers position within the car?

I know it sounds silly but it seems as if I can cut the initial left into Eau Rouge this week in the right hand drive Holdon as compared to the left hand drive Aston.

I may be nuts but it certainly appears more liberal this week.

It's determined by geometric center of the car crossing defined track boundary. Center is determined by tires: intersection of diagonal lines from opposite tires.

I think Aston is also wider.

I've heard the geometric center as well. But in some corners it makes you wonder.

As for Eau Rouge I brake going into it as well. Then again I appear to be very slow this week. Will be on tonight hoping to get some practice in with you guys.

I'll be on tonight too but I'm not worried about speed this week as much as I'm worried about consistency. I've been my own worst enemy especially last week so I'm shifting my focus.

Any of you guys going to be on tonight for official practices? Wouldn't mind some tips for getting around spa. Have about 10 mins under my belt with the track could use some pointers

I may not be able to race tonight which really sux.

I've gotten no sleep due to the worst headache I've had possibly my entire life and it refuses to go away. I think I'm in just over 3500 mg of medication and still it persists.

Aw that sucks man. I'm hopin for ya.

Dino, why would tire change be optional? I mean it's always optional, but there's no reason you wouldn't take tires at all. Also 3.25 ratio is too low for Spa. You'll redline after Eau Rouge, especially in draft.

I put it as optional because it is optional and some people might not do it, simple as that. 3.25 is what Noel's setup is using, considering 3.50 was revving out. Unless he put in 3.75, but to my knowledge, lower number = more speed.

Nope I think you're right on the gear ratio. I think I had started with 3.50 and was topping off, then switched to 3.25.

Starting with full fuel is also optional too, so why not put that there as well...? The pit strategy is just a recommended one, and therefor gives the recommendations on what most people will do. Same thing with gear ratio. You could use 3.15 as well.

Still don't know who in their right mind would say no thanks to free new tires.

Just saying if we are doing this as a guide it is best to point out the fact that you might as well take tires, at the very least.

Funny- you can hear my tell my fiance that I can't talk right now in Zac's video... she came up to me and asked me if I wanted to watch the Women's World Cup match literally as I was going through Eau Rouge on lap 2.
