OK, that setup may have been a bit aggressive, So I am going back to the HDF baseline endurance and trying again , the track did heat up a bit but I got a meatball 2 laps before the fuel ran out, the car was getting slower and slower from about lap 17 onwards then the tyre went bang at lap 22.....

Open to suggestions! :S

I need some help please! I am a bit stumped with these tyres, this time I used the HDF setup and removed 2 wing only (to make it 4 wing so it didn't understeer so much)and used HF brakes, same default track settings as always at noon (ending with a 44 degree track temp).
I managed to get to my last lap of fuel this time before the meatball flag came out.
I am a little concerned that this is a baseline set and it can't manage a whole stint, let alone the disco light flashing going on in some of the suspension settings.
Did iRacing say "here is your baseline setup, it should be friendly and balanced, but surprise! it's actually dogshit and cannot make a whole stint lol!" ?
if someone can throw some light on this I would appreciate it! cheers!

If anything the changes that I made on the last one which I thought were over aggressive used even less tyre than this nonsense.....

Was the baseline designed for endurance or sprint races?

Your outside still has a lot of tread left. I think a large difference between inside and outside is fairly normal in iRacing, but to reduce the effect you could try less camber. -4.0 sounds like a bunch.

The high downforce might also be putting a lot of weight on the tires.

Moving brake bias toward the rear could help, since you can't get away as easily with pushing into the corners too fast.

That said, I haven't tried it yet. The rubber on track should also reduce tire wear, so maybe it won't be too big of a deal in the race.

The baseline i used was labelled baseline , so the fuel was in already. the camber is on the edge I guess? or it wouldn't be flashing yellow by default , but I don't know what it is meant to be. I really don't fancy doing full stints to find out what those settings are meant to be to start off with.

Medium endurance is 3 wing, so I was only one click out from that wing-wise , the default track state is only 20% usage I think. I sha;l try to go rearwards with the brake bias and see if that helps, any suggestions for how much camber to start off with?

Also as an aside, on the aero calculator on the front page of the garage , every click of rear wing removed adds more downforce to the front, so not sure if the HDF is putting more pressure on the fronts.

I ran 20 laps today at SPA just in a test drive session. I set the temp at 78 degrees, which is what @Nejtun had it at in his session and set the time of day at afternoon. I was running in the high 2:22s - 2.23s, until . . .

The good news, the car handled great thru Eau Rouge and you could be flat out thru turns 16 and 18.

Now the bad news, I got a tire call out on lap 12. By about lap 17, it was becoming difficult to stop the car and when I got to the pit, I couldn't even get it to stop for the pit box!!!! And look at this:

So I really think we need to try a different setup. I wonder if we could try the medium downforce and see what happens. I don't know, I would have to compare the two, but this setup won't be usable. I really don't understand it, even the rears are pretty bad.

Cheers Deb, well the good news is you had 10-11% more tyres than me! I did try the Merc for a comparison and the story was pretty much the same.
I shall be giving the Medium down force BMW a try tomorrow with some changes Noel suggested to see if there are some better results, Also we can use the medium friction brake pads going forwards so that it suits everyones pedals.

Thanks deb, just checking if that is the right one as it is the same name as the one I posted, I will give it a go if so

Did a full stint on Debs set, default track from website. lapt times started out ok , a little understeery but fast where it counts around spa. Lap 10 -15 started to get a little more understeery so backed of the brake bias around 1.5%
Dropped around 3 seconds by lap 17 , 5 Seconds at lap 19 and the tyre popped at lap 20. Help!

Do you think we should ask iRacing WTH or post something in the forum because this doesn't make any sense that you can't get thru a stint on a set of tires. It hasn't been an issue at any other track we have been racing on. :/

To be honest Deb , I am at a loss, when I was just using baseline then I thought it might just be a shitty set of setups that somebody has made, but after using your VRS set I am just stumped. I can only imagine that between last season ( this is where your set is from right? ort even 2 seasons) and this current one, something has changed so much that the old adjustments are just not suitable for a full stint.

The fact also that tyres used to be able to get double stinted (with care) compared to the new version which are designed to be changed with fuel as far as I know, might have something to do with it also.

Maybe later in the week when the set up shops come out with their official Spa sets we might have something totally different?
Until then I do not know what to do, We can of course still practice for track knowledge and traffic practice and I am pretty sure that night time and morning/evening will let the tyres last as well as higher track state use and different temps.
The track will at some point not be "ideal state" though, most likely at the start of the race so hopefully will have something to get around that. Don't forget that noon/default from the browser launcher (not the UI) is as shitty as the track can get so don't lose heart!
*walks away crushed*

The Porsche Cup car tires also used to last for ages. They felt really fast after 8 laps of the Nordschleife. But in the last NEC race I noticed that they wore down a lot over a stint, even in relatively cold weather.
