Possible New V8 Supercars Coming This Year?

Gfinity and iRacing are teaming up with V8 Supercars to begin a new Esports series starting in August! Note that it isn't a brand new series, the official V8 Supercar Esports series was originally held on Forza Motorsports, but now the platform will shift to iRacing!

Could this possibly bring a new (or two, or all?) 2019 V8 Supercar to iRacing?

Posting via phones are hard.... TL : DR of the OG post;

The current iRacing V8 Supercars are from 2013 (Holden Commodore VF V8 and Ford Falcon FG II), but they quickly looked dated by the release of the Ford Falcon FGX in 2015. Holden updated their Commodore (ZB?) in 2018, and Ford once again updated their entry for 2019, switching to the Mustang! All of this is ignoring the entrance of Nissan as well as the entry/exit of Volvo in that time span as well.

iRacing clearly fell behind on this series over the past 5 years, so an update to the series would be welcome! It's nice to hear, amongst the loss of Blancpain and VLN, that iRacing is still pulling in new series' direct support. The V8 community has remained extremely active despite the lack of any new content or direct support for their series, so I'm hopeful that they'll finally get some well earned attention, now.

Instant buy for the Ford Mustang if they do! Would love to see a bump in V8 popularity too. I have way too much free time to only race twice a week (what a problem to have). Been putting my focus on the Porsche Cup series, just small enough that it has that small series feel but big enough that I can get a good amount of races in the week, would love to see the V8s become something like that.

Well it is official! Supercars just tweeted confirming that new V8 Supercars are in the works for iRacing! The article states that we won't see these cars until 2020 so the first season of the Gfinity Supercars Eseries will use the V8's iRacing already have.

In slightly worse news, Supercar driver Scott McGlaughlin already took shots at the series, suggesting their models are already out-dated as of this month...

...but beggars can't be choosers, and a refresh of anything new was badly needed for the V8 community, which hasn't seen any new content since the Holden came out in... 2015? (Chew on that, "...we're treated like second class citizens..." Dirt Oval community...:mad::mad:)

Hopefully, over the next couple builds, we'll see a couple more Aussie tracks slide into the mix, as well!

I was wondering about this. I've been messing around driving the Ford on Mount Panorama the past couple of nights just to see if it might be fun to give the Bathurst 1000 a shot and the car does seem out dated. Still kind of fun though, definitely a challenge as compared to the GT3 and GTEs.

New V8SC's are certainly welcome.

We don't need any new tracks though, a Season of Phillip Island is more than fine by me :)

Well, "2020" is SOONer than we thought.

I obviously would have preferred to see them both come out at the same time, ESPECIALLY because the poor Ford is so... unexceptional (and who knows, tomorrow they may announce the Mustang) but nice to see iRacing step up the timeline.

They needed this, too. So far the iRacing V8 pro series has been extremly underwhelming. Hopefully a new car, and a new year, will breath some life into it!

Oh, and people are asking (for some reason) if these cars will be on NTM7... Yes.

Wow this seems like a really quick turnaround.

I've been watching older iRacing videos of mine, Matt Malone and Dave Cameron and the changes in iRacing since I signed up are very significant.

The Sim just looks and feels the best it ever has and only continues to improve.

Really excited to see what 2020 brings.

Dammit....
Now I have to choose one.
Front End: The shape of the Holden front bumper appeals to my preference. Like the round curves and the large grill, but the Ford has the more unique and iconic design. The Holden could be a Chevy or a Buick, but it could also be and Volvo. The Mustang is a Mustang.

Back End: No question, the Mustang is winning at the rear, for me. To me, the Holden doesn't seem to have a lot of character there.

Bottom line, I'll probably buy both, preference still to the Ford. IMO, the manufacturers have swapped, from the previous-Gen, as I always thought the Ford had the better front bumper, but the Holden had the more distinctive look and was better on a whole. Hopefully they've fixed the wonky front camber difference between the player car and the competitors cars.

Differences in the interiors could make a difference, too. Looking forward to seeing those.

Hell no, I will be driving them in Assetto though. It is 5€ right now people, no more excuses to not get it, Ultimate with all DLC is -86% = 11€ Assetto now has 3500 to 4000 people daily, instead of the 600 or 800 people driving Competizione, just saying, it is amazing, thanks to a great community.

That Dallara damage looks awesome in the new promo video btw. Nice to see real damage that can end your race.

The New V8s are nice, moving gearstick and everything! ( drivers arms don't leave the wheel though so I guess he is using his mind :D ) Bathurst's Hell Corner seems to have a slightly less forgiving kerb though........
