That was a lot of fun. I was amused by little P (I think it was P?) being constantly surprised about me tossing out random detailed facts lol. I wish it was indicative of some greater ability on my part, but it's really just years of flying these study sims and a good memory.

I assume also with HARM integration as well? It has been a while since I've been in BMS but I recall being able to use it with them as well... Or at least seeing targets emitting.
BMS doesn't have any HARM slaving capability to JHCMS that I'm aware of, but it does have the HARM Targeting System (HTS) which is like cheating. It gives you the HARM Attack Display (HAD) which is a top down view of the battle space with all emitting radars, with their type, and color coded based on threat level and strength of emissions. It also gives you a handy bubble that shows you exactly what's in range of the HARM. See something red or yellow on the HAD that you want dead? TMS up, make sure it's in the HARM bubble, magnum. It's much easier than trying to use HARM As Sensor (HAS) or the various POS mods (EOM, PB and RUK).

The Hornet does not have the HTS, that's an air force system. It has the same HAS modes as the Viper (because the HARM itself provides them), and from my understanding it has a Navy system that is somewhat similar to the HTS but not as advanced. I don't know much about it, but I'm excited to learn once we get HARMs.

This is what the HAD looks like in the Viper:

Yeah it was me, the same guy who taxied his Spitfire straight in to the side of your F-18 blissfully unaware the screams of no stop no NO STOP NO NOOOO STOOOP were aimed at him. Sorry about that again old chap what what. Frightful mess old boy! What! (Was funny though...oops)

Loved this, one for you @Brainling lol

It was super funny. I knew you couldn't see where you were going, but rather than giving you calm clear instructions i just freaked out.

e: That video is super funny. It's definitely a meme going around how many people are ditching the Hornet for the Tomcat, as I talked about earlier. Awesome to see Jabbers and GrayWo1f make some humor out of it.

I forgot all about that moment, but it was hilarious indeed. That and somebody in a WW2 aircraft eating a SAM and saying something like , “I was flying along one minute and my plane completely disappeared the next!”

Somehow knowing my beautiful Spitfire was obliterated into a thousand tiny pieces by a Mig rather than a SAM doesn't make me feel any better lol

If only Wappie knew how lucky he got in the spit, he dodged 2 sams, only to get an R77 up the shaft.

Wish i was a bit more rested, i couldn't do anything serious as i haven't taken the time to properly setup my hotas for all the diff planes yet.

If everyone is not too hung over tomorrow, I'd be up for a bit of flying. Perhaps even some prop plane stuff as I now have the 51.

Good summary. I was just remembering that you can see the selected HARM target via HMCS I think. The HAD was op. Can't wait to use its equivalent in the hornet.

You might be right about JHMCS and the HARM in the Viper. I basically only use JHMCS for air to air in BMS, so it's a feature I might have missed.

Pilots @Nejtun, @Wapwap and myself are embarking on our first missions using the Normandy map and WW2 assets tonight @9pm GMT if anyone else has a WW2 plane with weapons, the map and the assets and wants to join in we have one space available! (@Kenadian I know you picked these up recently?)

We'll be using the dynamic through the inferno mission which can be grabbed here and the .miz file needs to be put in your missions folder.

Default file structure is c: > users > "your username" > saved games > dcs.openbeta > missions

TALLY HO!

I'll get there sooner or later folks, sorry for the delay.

I'm currently switching from XSplit to OBS Studio which is a massive make work project.

Always up for new missions @Jeeve79 ! quite like the ones that involve city targets, and if you can include a couple of destructable trains that would be awesome :D.

If enough people have Nevada, I wouldn't mind trying out the King of Vegas mission (king of the hill basically) there is a WW2 version and a Helicopter version.

There may also be a Georgia version of this game type for the WW2 planes, I shall check this out.

The formats for these is to hold the marked out area in a red vs blue team deathmatch style, the planes spawn in the air ready to go and the helis spawn fired up and armed, if you have more of your team in the capture area then your tickets go up, first to 100 wins!

every ten points some AI ground anti air spawn just to mix things up a bit.

The rules are pretty open, just for self policing though, people generally run "No AI weapons" unless everyone is in the Huey, then the gloves come off and AI gunners are on!!

any interest in this format mates then please let me know and i will find the least buggy one :p

@little P @Brainling @Kinger @Kenadian @Wapwap @ElektroVodka @Daunt and everyone else, I think 2 v 2 minimum is good for this although I believe the area is good for 16 v 16
