DCS World updated

lol I agree with EV for once. :p

I must say, I dunno if DCS plans to change this but using clickable cockpits in VR is slightly frustrating. Unlike with trackIR, the mouse does not stay stationary (relative to the world). As in, if i moused over a button and then moved my head, the mouse moves along with it. As I said, this is completely opposite of how trackIR does it, in that your mouse cursor would remain over the button, regardless of how much you moved your head.

This gets to be annoying to say the least, because it requires keeping the head completely still or else you move the cursor off the button you just moved the mouse to. This would allow you to, I believe, map a mouse click to something on your stick and just "look" at a button and press mouse click without having to take your hand off the stick... but yeah.

I need to research more into it to see if there is some sort of setting for this or it's just the way it is in VR.... at least for now.

Follow up: In my research there seems to be a "Use mouse in VR" option that allows you to switch between having it bound to where you're looking (Which allows for clicking stuff without having hands on a mouse) and normal mouse movement. I will have to try that. Anyone else prefer one or the other?

In some other cases I read of people using the motion controllers. They'd hang them from their wrists while using the stick and throttle but then would use them to press buttons in the pit. Sounds interesting.

The mouse look thing does work , but you need to bind a button to a mouse click , the comms button on a warthog does this by default. when i use the hands/controllers then I hang them from my wrists like you said , it is a bit cumbersome though.

DCS now has a "captoglove" setting which sounds very interesting, there are about 10 different glove manufacturers at the moment so I am keep an eye on that one.

@Jeeve79 have you got Normandy and WW2 assets? We were a squadron of 3 that night, when 5 of us were on we were mixed between props and jets on the normal map, was great fun.

I was having far too much fun to take too many screenshots last night but I did get a few;

B2O Squadron assembled ready for takeoff

We've come to kick ass and chew gum, and we're all out of gum

This is what happens if you are waiting for your wounded Spitfire to be repaired and Wappy is on a mission to take off... "BOOM"

We were having trouble with a Tiger tank on Omaha beach using our cannons so Wappy decided to bring the mother of all bombs along to solve our problem

Props are awesome and a true test of skill.

Anyone can fire and forget.
Lol. If that isn't the grossest oversimplification I've ever read... I dunno what is.
We mock what we don’t understand :)
When you're right you're right.

I forgot to mention you actually have to leave the Hangar and Taxi otherwise pressing the Trigger may accidentally hit another parked vehicle.

Leaving the Runway is optional :)

so when you going to fly with us Ken? :)
#Soon :)

Actually I'm working right now on moving from XSplit to OBS so that's priority over everything.

Having said that, the X-55 Rhino is installed and DCS is also installed and up to date. My guess is likely after Daytona 24hr.

Cool , we should have a load of things to do in both the helicopters and the WW2 planes by then!

If it's not him in a Maverick or Goose (there's two o's in goose boys) helmet in a top gun F-14 with ray bans on it'll be the mother of all missed opportunities

Looks like the litening pod already developed for the A10 is coming to the hornet now. Hope it comes soon!
The Marines use the LITENING with the Hornet, so this makes sense. It's also the pod the F-16C uses, so it's likely the Viper will release with a tpod which is nice.

The question is will ED allow it to be added to the jet if you are launching from a carrier? In the real world that apparently does not occur.

New idea for a stream. We do three dog fights in props, then three engagements in jets. Then rate kens performance and laugh it over some wobblies.

I'm excited to see his fighter pilot overlay for his stream.
You'll have to live with imagining how this would play out because it's quite likely you'll never see me in a Jet. I'm simply not interested in flying them.

I'd much rather spend time in WW2 era vehicles as well as Helicopters.
