Thanks for the photos, @little P ! The "3 wire!" was total luck, and I'm not even close to following the actual "landing strip", but watching you land the A4 was awesome... almost as awesome as watching you follow up that landing by racing across the deck "taxiing" and almost falling off! Glad you finally got it to work, because you were stuck in the unfortunate position to just "figure it out" on your own.

So iRacing's servers are still bugging out. Anyone around to fly in a bit?

I see you guys were doing some landing- I found a really great CASE I recovery trainer mission.

You can spawn as a number of Hornets midflight (and continually repspawn) on approach to Stennis. The mission will help guide you and tell you if you're off (too far, too high/low, on target, on speed, too/fast too slow, etc) and rate you / give you a score and even tell you what wire you trap on.

It's real great and I've been using it as a trainer to perfect my carrier landings.

Unforunately for P, it is designed for hornets, I'm not sure how much it would be to edit it just to add others jets.

I can guarantee there will be something similar for the Tomcat as practically the entire Community seems they will be flying one at some point. They may not stay with it, but there will be PLENTY of interest to have something similar created.

I'll do my best to join, sounds like a fun mission. Need to find me some good curves and a good ir camera angle first tho

Don’t look now boys, but it appears another DCS sale is on. Excludes Tomcat and just 25% off Hornet, but if you are looking to pick up some other stuff might want to take advantage.

Nah, I nearly weakened last week but I've got a busy schedule coming up what with work and I've just bought myself a Type-R and need to prepare it for the track so I'll wait for the F-14. Great discounts again though!

Looking for other Hornet pilots to take place in a mission this Saturday, 1pm Eastern.

Operation Top Down
Mission
: Escort B-52 Bomber Group
Target Area: Hormozgan Province, Iran
Objectives: Bomb Manufacturing Facilities Producing Weapon Grade Plutonium

Intel/US satellites have identified a facility that is key to Iran’s ability to produce weapon grade plutonium and centrifuge parts. This facility is located the city of Anveh. Their military continues to build these facilities in an urban area hoping to hide their activities.

Operation Top Down will be a strategic strike of force to this newly identified compound. The strike force will consist of two B-52’s, followed by a single B1-B bombing attacking of the Bandar Lengeh Airbase. This airbase has been a threat to the region with regards to air space intrusion. This second strike will only proceed if the first portion of the mission is successful.

The B-52 group will be escorted to the target area by the USS Stennis Strike Group (JCSSG) aircraft. The operational command of this mission will be the JCSSG.

Mission Air Threats: There are MIG’s in the area, the air threat is HIGH. They do routinely fly cover over this facility, and once they know we are there, they will engage with a significant force of strength.

On station: This mission is under the command of the JCSSG operating in the Persian Gulf. It consists of the Stennis, the USS Normandy, USS Oliver Hazard Perry and the USS Tarawa. The ALERT aircraft assigned to this mission is squadron VMFA312. Ground and air targets must be destroyed for this mission to be successful. AWACS will also be on station, Hornets check-in once airborne for bogey status. A KC-130 tanker will also be available if needed near the Strike Group. A second tanker may be available depending upon how low in fuel the Hornets get providing cover and dealing with any threats.

Hornet Escort will be armed with 6x AIM-120C and 6x AIM-9L

Hornets will be ready on Cat, waiting on order for launch.

As a note to anyone: This is a simple PvE mission just to practice working together and flying together. No issues if we foul up at least once ;) I'm personally hoping we won't need to A2A refuel or I will admit I'll crash lol.
Going to try really hard to make this one @Daunt for a couple reasons. 1.) The Hornet is cool 2.) Practicing air to air engagements when you suck is cool. 3.) Flying with wingmen is cool and 4.) the mission looks cool.

Now with the above being said, I have to state that my wife is trying to get me to go out and look at kitchen cabinets this morning for a kitchen remodel and we are celebrating her dad's b-day about an hour away from where we live and have to be there by 5. Hopefully she doesn't find other things that need to be done during that short window in between where you have set up this mission time.

Because that is totally normal , lol :D
lol, yeah it's been something I've wanting to do for a good while and the right car came along, very clean facelift '04 Type-R (last of the lightweight Type-R's) that's had some good modifications already done to the engine, with good maintenance. The whole car from engine to suspension and tyres etc. are all as new, I've known the car since it was new, the two previous owners are both mechanics at the same garage so it's wanted for nothing. The best bit about it's history though? It was stolen recovered undamaged after being used as a getaway car in a bank robbery! haha. So I am curious when I strip its interior out whether I'll find any diamonds or gold bars?! It's going to be a little pocket rocket when I'm done preparing. It's off to get noise tested on Friday at Brands Hatch, and I might have a cheeky trackday while I'm down there, will see how it goes.

Only things I'm doing are stripping it for weight saving, half roll bar, some harnesses, racing wheel, some adjustable shocks and springs, polybushing, upgraded braking fluid after bleeding the system, braided brake lines, new vented discs and 6 pot calipers, then some trackday wheels and semi slicks which can be put in the back ready to switch to on arrival. The last thing I want is driving home with flat spots if I lock up under braking. I can't say I know exactly what I'm doing because this is all new to me, but it's going to be a hell of a lot of fun figuring it out as I go. Bought myself a gopro and mount with steel tether so that's ok to use at all MSV tracks in the UK after checking with them.

Roll on the summer :)

p.s. Honda's VTEC system is so fun, I feel like a teenager again driving this mad little car :)

Sorry @Kinger but no one seemed to respond about running the mission so I didn't have it set up. My schedule is that I need to plan ahead for mid-day gaming- otherwise I only game at night and it seems most of our DCS crowd flies during the afternoon my time (eastern)

No problem man! I thought my response might be too late, but I thought I’d give it a shot anyway. As you could see, my window was pretty narrow Saturday to boot.

What TZ are you?? I don't mind running stuff later at night for the USTZ folks- not sure where @Brainling is from. Just afternoon stuff doesn't work well for me.
