In case you'd have an old Kinect laying around you could also use the Kinect2TIR 2.0 beta software.

I'm using this with a PrimeSense Carmine 1.08 sensor and it works like a charm.

Best thing of this: you won't need any hat or sensors on your head !!! Bad thing about this, it works (for me) only in a certain radius.
So in case I lay back or bend over a bit too much it turns out of sync (and other weird things might happen as well when bending over and playing Elite with you guys).

Sounds like you are rolling in the creds Shilka! I've yet to have more than 50k in the bank (although I've been spending a lot on upgrading my Eagle)..

I'll be up for some protection duty when the time comes ;)

As Duke and Produx have mentioned head tracking I just thought I'd mention the product I have bought and am waiting on delivery (no rush).

Details here;

http://edtracker.org.uk/

Basically it all started with an innocent forum post and now there's a few forum members cranking out these things as fast as they can. Basing it on forum feedback of currently over 450 of these things being used it is a brilliant little device for £30, six times cheaper than we can get Track IR for in this country.

It will get me by until the Rift is released (I had to use a lot of self control to stop myself buying the DK2), and I like I don't have to wear a cap or even have a camera on top of my monitor.

I love the fact this came out of a community of like minded gamers, and they are just nice blokes offering a cheaper way of getting basic head tracking :)

Here's a vid of the device in it's infancy -

And I've bought a pre built one in a nice little enclosure that just sits on the top of the headphones (I'm going to use a bit of velcro strip so it's easy to remove).

Job done! Looking forward to trying it and I'll give some feedback on how it works. I used to have a Track IR before it broke so I'll be able to compare the two systems :)

Shilka, you may find http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/ useful. Once you get a Type 6 fully fitted out with maximum cargo/minimum weight commodity trading becomes very viable but its more dull than rares as it's one route, back and forth.

I've just managed to get my permit to get into Sol, just trading a little more to change all the modules on my Asp to A 5 then I'm off exploring.

Type 6?! I'll be able to get a Cobra by next year at this rate :p

But... I haven't touched rares or done any trading at all. Just small fry missions, exploration and a bit of opportunistic bounty hunting.

I may have to resign to using trading tools one day, but today is not that day ;)

I got the Cobra from purely bounties. Resource Extraction sites are excellent for that - it's not quite as good as trading but you can make 300k in an hour easily from those. I'm just trading to get the Asp outfitted. Getting 25m doing anything other than trading would take a long, long time :(

Nice, I hope you are on our side if the fecal matter hits the wind rotational device...

Just a heads up the servers seem to be borky right now, lots of reports of losing credits. I experienced it during outfitting but fortunately only lost about 20k.

Be careful until it gets the all clear...

was having some server problems tonight yeah, had to do surface scans like 3 times over.... Made some good money though, roughly 2 million, and spent it all on upgrades XD Slowely working my way to a lacon type 7 now though. Thinking of keeping the type 6 though, it's upgraded so far I can withstand attacks after successfull interdictions, with the help of some chaff, electronic jammers and defence turrets... Got close a few times, once without having enough insurance money...that was nasty, but escaped...just.... Exciting times!

Those problems last night were bad. I lost about 1m credits in trade items going missing and my next federation mission now always appears blank.

Wow.... I did try and warn everyone... I only did some wandering about last night, and bought and kitted out myself an Adder. Didn't want to go mad just in case, that sucks Mondo!

You two are so far ahead of me credit wise but ah well, I'm happy being the space bum lol

A few shots from me :)

Where I started roleplaying from... home sweet home. So long and thanks for all the fish.

I supercruised for a long time away from this star to get this shot, and I still couldn't fit it in. There are some BIG stars out there...

Nice shot of a binary system I passed through on the way to Empire space.

Sometimes, this game offers up moments of pure beauty that make you stop and take it all in.

Interesting planet I discovered while scanning a system on my way back from a Navy mission.

Sweet shots P! I should think of turning off the hud when making screens too, that looks very nice!

Here's a big lump of molten metal I came across yesterday:

Well, I've been doing lot's of exploring today, it doesn't pay nearly as good as regular trading in a medium trading vessle, but boy is it fun! Had to do quite a bit of interdiction dodging, and a few failed attempts to evade interdiction were interesting to say the least.
Escaped a few guys taking pot shots at me, thanks to chaff, ecm jamming and a defence turret against missiles, but the last one was best. This chick in a cobra interdicted me, and by evasive manouvring I managed to get behind her, so decided to take some shots at her... With the standard loan lasers not an easy task, but like 15 minutes later I managed to destroy the Cobra in my lacon type-6 (lol), and even got a nice 12K bounty from it :)

Finally managed to get some decent money from exploring, though I had to invest 0.5 million in a detailed surface scanner, and 1.5 million in an advanced discovery scanner. Then I went out and scanned every system on the way, and did detailed scans of at least the sun, and then any earth like planet, and all metal rich planets that were relatively nearby. Usuing this chart helped me:

021.jpg

Highres version can be found here: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20150103033500/elite-dangerous/images/c/c6/Explorer_Infographic_000_ElDubardo.jpg

The result is getting paid for scan results like this:

022.jpg

You also get to see quite some spectacular sights like this triple sun system:

023.jpg

Or this unusual metal rich planet with rings, with a neutron star in the background:

024.jpg

I must admit though, 80 - 90% of the systems I came across were low temperature stars with iceplanets, not worth the time for scanning except for the star itself, but it makes the remaining 10% of systems that much more interesting and at times thrilling, really had a lot of fun! :icon_cheesygrin:

Here's something else special I came across during exploration; It was so big I could fly inside from the side:

026.jpg

And I could fly inside from the front:

027.jpg

And it had huge engines:

029.jpg

And gun turrets that were as big as my Lacon type 6 merchant:

Yep, my first encounter with a Battlecruiser... Quite a sight, and I am very happy for not getting shot at for 'violating its cavities' , lol.

Is that the one round earth? I didn't visit when I went to sol, figured I'd be back later.

I finished trading and have some hard won tips: don't move to a type 7 with 23m spare. It needs the additional cargo holds added and with those 216 tons it costs a few million to fill it up then you need room for insurance. If you can find a good, short 2 way trade you can make 250k per round trip. However the ship is very tall and I got stuck a few times in the entrance to stations.

I sold my Type 7 and went back to the Asp with 30m credits to play with. The number of external hard points and number and level of internal slots is pretty staggering but that 30m doesn't get you to far. Still doesn't get all A class modules but does build a fantastic bounty ship, can take out anything smaller than a Cobra in seconds. Used it to get my Federation rep to Chief Petty Officer before I hit a bug where it doesn't give you the next mission. Decided to go exploring.

Swapped out my combat load for exploring, removed all the excess weight put in A grade power and FSD. I decided to do a trip first to the North America nebulae then Elephant Trunk nebulae and finish of looking at black holes in NGC 7822. It's roughly 8000 light years round trip. I'm 1000 ly in but looks like server problems again and had to rescan a system with 50 bodies in it. I'm not scanning every system entirely, only those with planets of worth until I get into the places I want to go. The most interesting system so far had two Sun's literally next to each other and was lucky to avoid heat damage when I arrived.

I really wish you could save routes. Exploring is fun but a little tedious at times.

Yeah I noticed you can poor around 6 times a ships base value in upgrades .... Almost got my lacon 6 upgraded to where I want it, and it's worth 5.2 million in trade in now...

Haven't gone crazy on money making yet, don't feel like grinding.... Found some very interesting systems when exploring though, like this one that instead of a multi star system, has 2 stars orbiting the main star like if they were planets, and both orbiting stars have rings! My most crazy find untill now heh:

031.jpg

Looks like this in space:

032.jpg

Later on I found another system with a ringed orbiting star. BTW, it's hard to take screenshots from the asteroid field when you get attacked by ASP's everytime you exit frame shift drive...

It was a bit of a grind to get that cash but I did it all wrong at the start and could have been allot quicker. Once I had the money for a Type 6 I should have stuck with it until I had about 13m for an ASP with A FSD so it can be fit for 160t of cargo. It's then a short step to the Type 7 where it's easy to rake in the cash. However it's tremendously boring. I really wanted that Asp though. The Cobra is good at exploring but the Asp is simply easier to do it in without any compromise.

That cruiser looks incredible! Great shots!

Reading both your posts feels like when I'm reading about Wayne Rooney earning 300k a week in the paper lol

I'm still bimbling around in my Adder not really earning much at all.

Mondo that trip sounds amazing, I hope you are going to document it and share some holiday snaps? :)

Space bum signing off. ;)
