I don't really have any complaints about the way the car drives.. None of my wrecks are consistently "too much oversteer" or "not enough grip". All of them are solely due to my lack of attention span. It's just like running Road America in 100% fog, there are just no breaks...

I've wrecked on straightaways because I tried to give my eyes a break, but there was nothing for me to use as a guide out of my peripheral vision... If you're not focused straight ahead, you're dead.

@ShadniX @Jes_971 @Brainling please dive this V3 a whirl , it "should" be a bit more pointy during the day where the understeer is at its worst without comproimising the night time handling. let me know. wouldn't mind knowing what you have left on tyres too at the end of your stints.
Cheers !

I think your first sentence sums up the time losses nicely :p. It looks like in some corners you're struggling because of too many inputs when already in the corner, which is upsetting the car. I think braking earlier would really help here. It might be slower at first, but when you get used to it you should find it much easier to hit the apices and accelerate early.

In the longer corners (right hander after Schwedenkreuz, 2nd corner after Adenauer Forst, Kallenhard, Bergwerk a.k.a. Zietgeist and the right hander going onto Döttinger for example) you may want to try turning in later. It seems you give up a lot of exit speed by turning in too early and going wide on the exit.

Also, almost every curb after the carousel is dangerous :)
My laps aren't nearly that sloppy normally, I was just pushing stupidly hard just to see how hard I could. My new best of 8:35 was much much cleaner because I was just practicing being consistent and eventually a good lap came out of it. It's definitely improved but obviously I can still improve more. Going to run some laps with the same conditions as what you have on VRS and see where I can make up some time.

With the NB24 setup I've been using, after Noel's suggestion, I found that 1 click down on the rear ARB felt a bit better and more importantly more consistent, however I am starting to bring the brake bias down every now and then over a stint as fuel gets taken off the front, otherwise it starts to really understeer on turn in.

@VipersStrike21, both myself and @Hydromani have tried your setup and although it's fast, it's not terribly predictable.

Late inputs have a tendency to make the car extremely tail happy and late inputs are likely to happen around here, particularly if you lose concentration during the night hours.

Sent my CSL Elite to Fanatec to have some belt and motor issues I've been having looked at. Going to be back to my G27 for a bit including during the 24 hour race, using it after being used to my CSL Elite has been quite depressing, but it's better than no wheel! Running WheelCheck and turning the info into a ForceMap has helped it feel quite a bit better at least. I think it's thrown me off a bit, but hopefully I adjust to it practicing up to the race.

Just feeling the size and material difference made me feel like I was back in one of these

It's not a normal PP night, but I'll be around tonight practicing for a bit if anyone is around. I'll probably do some day practice tonight as I'll I've done so far is night practice.

I tried the first stint with regular brake bias decreases when I felt like it needed it and it worked great, went from 44.7% down to low 43%. Fronts were 76% and the rears 74% which is a lot more balanced than my usual 5% gap between the front and rears. Quickly felt the low brake bias when I filled up on gas for a second stint on the tires. I don't know if it's the car or me but I'm always understeering into walls during the second stint. I'm thinking I'm just carrying too much speed into the high speed corners for the old tires to handle and I'm understeering out of corner exit and into walls. Not really struggling with oversteer than I can't save, although I'm finding what should be little fishtails a bit more difficult to recover from with the weak center FFB on the G27 since I can't really feel when to stop correcting, might need to try using some min force but I thought the ForceMap file was supposed to fix that.

Also more time progress, 8:33.5 is my new best, and all but my last lap of the first stint (not including the pit in lap) were sub 8:40, only outlier being the one before the pit in lap at 8:41, and it might've been traffic related but I don't remember. Weather was a cool 17c, but I've ran conditions like that before without that pace.

whats the plan for the rest of the week regarding all of us practising for nurb 24? I have a few things that I have to do but can be around if I know a bit in advance for sure.
Next week is easy as the servers should be up, but would be nice to be able to organise something for the week leading up to the official week.

I'll be around tomorrow night. Probably a little later, say 8 or 9pm EST. I will also be around for the following nights of Friday and Saturday.

Cool, lets get this going then!
Wednesday Practice Pals, 3 hour session going up at 23:01 GMT (midnight UK time) we were doing night time practice all last week so I will put up a later afternoon to mix things up a bit.
Don't forget your fuel buddy info and if possible pit stop info:
Tyre change time
Fuel time
Cone to cone time (might need someone to help you time this if you are using VR or don't have a watch handy)
Average Lap Time/Laps per stint
Fuel left at the end of each stint
Tyre wear at the end of your stint.

BMW setup is in this post.
Please make sure your team mates have the correct setup before practice so nobody has to interrupt a fuel run to give it to you!

Not sure if we want this passworded or not, I don't have to set this session up for a few hours yet so please let me know your preferences regarding this bearing in mind the traffic practice is good if we leave it open but on the flipside we also get people filling slots very quickly doing a hot lap and leaving which may stop a B2O member getting in if they are late.

Quick thing regarding qualifying for this event. As it stand at the moment qually is in the race session, it is 25 minutes long but still only 2 laps as you would get in any sprint race so make sure you know who is going to qualify for your team.

I would expect the lap to start half way down the back straight so you have one chance to screw up your first lap and reset.
Unlike the week long qually sessions only ONE PERSON can set a time with the "in race session " qualifying arrangement.

@Kenadian

Not sure if you're planning any special event decals for this event (I don't really think it's too neccessary due to iRacing's numberboard clusterfuck)

2019 Total Nurburgring 24H logo

2018 Zurich Nurburgring 24H Logo (Higher Quality, but Zurich instead of the new sponsor Total)

2019 iRacing Nurburgring 24H logo

Bilstein has been a sponsor in the past, with their logo featured in the center of most GT3 cars, or on the front corners if the grill interferes.

Tyres: The series is Open Tyre (Pirelli on the iRacing GT3 cars, Michelin on the iRacing Porsche GT3 Cup cars).

Oil: The series has several oil companies represented, but Total is now the Title sponsor for the race.

Fuel: I can't find anything directly, going to probe teams directly. I've seen a lot of reference to ARAL in German Motorsports, which seem to be linked to British Petroleum, but I've also seen teams sponsored by Shell fuels as well...

Out of the 14 currently running hosted sessions exactly ZERO have the correct cars in them, setting this up within the next hour for tonights practice pals in 3 and a half hours time, if anyone can advise if I should lock this or not I would appreciate it!
Cheers!

Thanks @Nejtun.

Personally it's probably a good idea to start getting used to traffic but we will have next week so I'm torn.

Either is good, I just appreciate the host.

We are good to go at 23:01 GMT ( midnight UK time ) Server is set for 3 hours, Late afternoon which seems to be evening :p last 30-45 mins should see it getting dark I think.
I have left this unpassworded so we should get some traffic at least. If you are in North America and this is a bit early for you after getting home then please sign up and join when you can just to make sure you get the slot!
Cheers :D
