Really feeling the car move towards oversteer at night, seems like it moves towards understeer in the day. Just really have to remind myself to drive more carefully as the tires wear. Or remind myself to not wear them so much in the first place.

Finally got to finish a couple stints with double stinted tires. Was working on a third one with fresh tires and might've gone for 4 for the hell of it, but crashed while trying to use my mouse to change the brake bias :( Not enough buttons on this G27 man, gonna have to figure out something for bindings.

Didn't feel any understeer really, did late afternoon into the night, car started to move towards oversteer regardless. I think it has to do wtih the fact that I used high track usage, so basically how the car will drive for the majority of the race. Was actually raising my brake bias as I drove the tires.

Anyways, here's some data

Just realizing that with the avg lap time difference, it would be faster for me personally to take tires. Don't know if it was due to changing conditions but even if it saved a few seconds or a bit more I don't know if it's worth trying to nurse the tires when there's traffic all around me like mentioned before, and the added risk of driving on old tires. I think I could've gotten more pace on the second stint, but it would've been at the risk of losing the car, I was holding back a bit because I knew I had a bad habit of losing the car in the second stint.

Don't know about the other Porsche drivers, but I think I'll be taking tires.

It's been a strange week for me so I haven't been able to practice on normal PP nights, but I'll be practicing tonight if anyone is around.

Hey guys, it looks like I am out for 24 Hours of Nurburgring. I have had some personal stuff come up that is going to prevent me from being available. Sorry :(

I think we could always use more than 3 drivers over 24 hours haha. I'm okay with it if the other two are.

Also another update on the Porsche. Was seeing that on-exit oversteer become an issue so I tried Noel's suggestion he made to me awhile ago of also lowering the front toe by 1 click to -2.0, on top of the 4 (down from 5) rear ARB I've been using on his suggestion. Thought it made the car understeer too much before but I think I was testing on too low of track usage. Now the car feels like it turns in better, is more planted on corner exit, the tire wear/pressures were much closer between the front and rear, and I even gained about a second of pace over the previous stint before the change. Overall a really good effect on the car.

Ok, so!
One week to go mates :)
I would like to do some practice tonight at league time, it would be a good idea if we can all practice together and get some full stints in. I still got some iracing credits left so I shall throw up another hosted at 19:30 eastern 00:30 UK time I think ?
Someone put me right on that , I think it is 13:30 on the east coast currently ( its 18:30 here ) and pretty sure you guys are 5 hours back.

Please chime in and say which time of day you would like, My suggestion would be Late Afternoon for 4 hours as that starts at 7:30 pm ish and should go right past sunset and into darkness. If anyone has any other suggestions or preferences please say as I can't mind read :D

Anyway, I should be in TS from a little after midnight, see you there !!

I should be home in time to catch some of the end of that session. I'll be practicing some tonight and this weekend, but I basically have to spend all of next week from Tuesday to Friday practicing my ass off to acclimate to direct drive before the weekend.

I've been practicing with this set. Only real issue I have is the brake bias being biased more toward the rear. I can get a way with a healthy margin using my pedals even if I push it forward. Not sure what you guys are running but I can adjust it to my liking on the fly.

Is there a team I need to join?

Also, I just watched this to get up to speed with this car and found it super helpful. Just watching the demo lap itself was a pretty good guide.

Made a pretty big change to the tire pressures. I think the set I was using was from when the Porsche was best on the lowest pressures, which isn't the case anymore. From my testing in the Porsche Cup series around 185 kpa hot or slightly above seems like where the fastest times are set. I adjusted the setup to be 148 in the front and 145 in the rear. On lap 7, also my fastest lap that destroyed my personal best thanks to these new pressures I assume, the rears were hovering right around 185 kpa, the fronts a few kpa lower but that seems like it might be normal based on running Mid-Ohio this week and looking at telemetry of me and Jarrad Filsell's data pack. I was looking at 75% on the inside of the fronts and 71% on the inside of the rears at the end of 1 stint, lower than usual but I might've just been pushing harder than usual due to wanting to set a new best.

8:33.68 - Pretty proud of that, even with a couple mistakes. New pressures are definitely a lot better. Even gave me a lot less off tracks!

I will create a team this week and invite you guys. I will also be doing most of my practice this week since I have been busy.

I seem to be using 11.56 L / lap on average, so I think we will be pretty far off doing 9 laps in a stint (calculation is 8.65 laps). But I think 8 laps is fairly normal and won't be a problem in the schedule.

Scratch what I said, go even 1 click higher to 151 kpa front, 148 kpa rear. Puts the rear tires up to 190 for some of the track, but more in the sweet spot for the rest. Lap 6 was on track to be an 8:30.xx but I choked :( God damn if I won't take an 8:31 though, and this has been in the official day practice session conditions.

I think I figured out why the Porsche setup felt so much better at night and terrible in the day. The old setup's tire pressures were still too low, but pretty close to being optimal for night conditions. Just need to crank up the pressures for day time it seems like?

Noel's 1:29 on the old setup from one of Marc's sessions ran around 10pm in game was on the old setup, but still managed to achieve a hot rear pressure of about 180 kpa. That's with a starting pressure of 141 front and 138 rear. To get up around 187 I had to run 144 front 141 rear (1 click up on both) to get 188 kpa in the rear in identical conditions.

Day time seems to require much higher cold pressure to reach an optimal hot pressure, I guess because there's less grip to push the tires. So it seems like changing the pressure of the new tires we put on will be critical to keeping good pace and grip throughout all 24 hours.

Sorry I meant Noel's 8:29 not 1:29 lol. I need more testing but maybe 180 hot kpa is even better for night conditions or this track in general, just need a break from the car for right now haha

Guys, I am trying to work it out where I can drive some but things are still in motion. I know you need me most to drive in the dark. Does anyone know what time that will be central time? What time does the race start, not literally but locally what time is iRacing setting the race to start at?

Oh, and I've been able to do a couple of different FFS and the tires come in awful, not sure why that is, much worse than what happens at VLN. Most recent FFSs, fronts were 47 left/52 right and 49 left/53 right.

@Nejtun I've been driving a bit on the setup and it feels fine to me. I will be driving today and into this evening. I'll be around for PP tonight too. Should have some pit-stop and tire data before PP tonight. I literally don't have anything to do Mon-Wed so I'll just be grinding.

Is there anything that prevents us from having one set of pressures for day and one set for night since we can adjust pressures during a pit stop?

Also, when a cloud rolls around, things get noticeably grippier very quickly. Didn't get a chance to practice much last night but I seem to be in the :33s on a clean lap with a bunch of fuel. Traffic seems to offset the pace quite a bit. GT3 drivers are not always very nice. :/
